21st December 2008 is the day we have been waiting for we booked our 1st family ski holiday to Ruka in Finland.
The kids have been non stop talking about this since we booked it on 8th Jan 08.

This is not a holiday where you think about cost it is worth every penny and when we got back money was never mentioned as it was one of those priceless moments.

Flight for Manchester to Kussamo took aprox 3hrs & 40 mins and was at 6.40am. As we bagan out descent into Kussamo we could see lots of trees and plenty of snow I myself was getting giddy by this time in equal ammounts as my 8,6 & 5 year olds my husband was playing it cool but not for long.
Kussamo airport is very small with no duty free shop just a small shop offering souveniers and coffee's and pasteries.
Cases were pretty quick coming to us and the coach journey to our accomodation took approx 30 mins which gave us a good chance to take in the stunning scenery.
The drivers are very skilled and puts our country to shame when we have a few cms of snow and everything stops.

The actuall cottages are in a great location on the edge of the lake which was frozen allowing us to walk directly accross it, the Ruka village is about 15 mins walk which we all enjoyed gave our muscles a warm up before our days skiing.
You have a double bedroom with wardrobes and a dressing table bed was comfortable and we all slept very well.
Twin bedroom with bunkbeds and again wardrobe which had in lego, drawing books, crayons, jigsaws and games which we didnt know about this made a great addition for evening entertainment.
Kitchen area with 6 seater dinning table. Kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of glasses, crockery, cutlery and utensils.
Lounge are with sofa and 2 chairs tv, radio and DVD player.
Bathroom with shower, toilet, basin Sauna room is at the back of the batroom and all 5 of us happily got in there.
Drying closet this was used everyday and we will not go skiing without one again fits in all coats, boots, salopetes etc making sure you have dry clothing the next day.

We will be returning to Ruka in 2010 and will be looking to book into the Ruka Cottages again dur to their size and location.

We had a amazing holiday which will never be forgotten.
