I have used Larnacaairport a number of times, as at one time due to my husbands job we were living in Cyprus.
I can best describe Larnaca airport as a warehouse with a few slight upgrades. If you arrive early for your check in you will be hard pressed to find a seat to rest your tired bones, but you will find quite a nice little shop where you can stock up on a few sweeties for the flight, but be warned the shop is only big enough for about 3 people so don't take your whole family in to choose goodies.
You will also see a few security men standing around looking important, my most scarey exerpiance in Larnaca airport was when the sercurity men were standing around being busy looking powerful and I was sat (yes sat I was one of the fastest to the seats)watching a man empty his suitcase of certain items of clothing all bunched up and stuff them in to a litter bin inside the check in area, I looked about to see what the security would do, but alas they were busy looking scarey. So I took it upon myself to approach a member of security to point out what I had seen, but sadly for me he could not speak of word of English, and my Cypriot was not good enough to say "hey I think that man over there could of planted a bomb!"
A checkin girl was called over and I explained to her, she then preceeded to tell the security man, and they had a conversation which flew over my head in Cypriot, and then the CHECKIN girl started taking out the clothing from the bin, luckily it was a false alarm, but it made me appreciate the often stringent security in Heathrow! * I must stress this was an isolated occurence*
Anyway once you have checked in for your flight, you go through to departures, which I admit is not the best of places but I have come across worse, you do get soft seats in departures and quite a few more then in the check in area.
There is a place to eat and a bar to drink, what more do you need?...ah yes you need a duty free shop, well I could spend a week in Larnaca's duty free, its brilliant,well stocked and with lots of variety. You will find what you are looking for.
When your flight is called you will go to sit in another area behind big glass screens, this makes you feel important as you are the next level up!
Arrival into Larnaca airport is also an intresting experiance, if you are flying from the UK as you come in to Larnaca the plane will bank to get lined up with the runway, it actually banks over the beach, I now know why there is no paragliding on that particular stretch of beach.
Once you land you will be loaded on to a shuttle bus, which takes about 15 mins to get everyone on, to the arrivals warehouse " oops mean terminal" which would take the average person 2 mins to walk.
Once there you will line up to get your passports checked by men in what look like huts from the local garden centre.
You will then go to collect your luggage but be quick there is not too much space around that carousel!
As I said Larnaca is not the biggest and best airport in the world but it does the job of opening the doors to wonderful Cyprus and putting you on the plane back home.
