Shhh - Our Honeymoon Secret Revealed!!!

Advantages: Gave us rare sights of animals in trouble throughout the world
Disadvantages: None

***Background*** The Secret Garden can be found tucked away in an area of The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, which is situated about halfway along the Las Vegas Boulevard section that is commonly known as The Strip. Siegfried & Roy are most famous for being spectacular magicians, who take part in illusions that no one else has done before. They have used a lot of big cats in their shows in the past and seem to have a genuine love to protect and set ...
...since they first performed at the Tropicana in their Las Vegas debut, way back in 1967 and have now performed in many of the big and well-known hotels in this spectacular city. They were first introduced to white tigers back in 1982 when the Maharajah of Boroda asked them to help to bring the plight of these magnificent animals to the world's attention. As a gift he gave them cubs to help set up a breeding plan and save these endangered animals ...

Madame Tussauds, Las Vegas Style

Advantages: Good laugh
Disadvantages: Pricey if you don't get discounted tickets, laughable waxworks!

...to try to go to Madame Tussauds, located in the Venetian Hotel. So, I made up my mind, I was going to go down to Madame Tussauds, on my way, I found a half price ticket booth, Tix4Tonight, which was offering entrance tickets for Madame Tussauds for $14, I can't remember exactly what the 'on the door' ticket price was, but I believe it was about $22, so I made a small saving there. Madame Tussauds, Las Vegas, is fairly easy to find, if you are in ...
...Venetian and not gone into Madame Tussauds, there has been a 'celebrity' waxwork out on a platform, just outside the entrance to Madame Tussauds, last year it was Nicholas Cage, the year before Shaq O'Neil, this year it was Whoppi Goldberg. This serves as trying to get you inside to Madame Tussauds and for visitors to have pictures with if they don't want to go in. So, I arrived, there was no queue and handing my ticket voucher to the lady and the ...

Get your kicks here, Route 66 ends here!

Advantages: Beautiful views of the pacific ocean and surrounding neighbourhoods
Disadvantages: Can get busy in summer

When I think of Santa Monica, it's all about the beaches (yes, where they filmed Baywatch apparently) and the pier. To give you some idea of it's importance amongst locals, this pier was built in 1909. Now, at the risk of sounding patronising, most Americans' won't have seen many buildings of this age before. That's because Santa Monica is one of the neighbourhood's in Los Angeles and Los Angeles is all about the here and now, not the long forgotton. ...
...in front of the Pier. Santa Monica Boulevard as it's more commonly known, turns into the busy Santa Monica Freeway and stops virtually right in front of the Pier. When it comes to american culture, what more could you want? When you walk onto the Pier, the first building you come to is called the Hippodrome Carousel Building, and in here you will find the oldest carousel in the States, dating from 1922. Walk to the end of the pier beyond the usual ...

Why Stripping Is So Tiring!!!

Advantages: Lots to see and do without spending too much cash.
Disadvantages: The heat and crowds made it tiring.

***Background*** Las Vegas wasn't really top of our list when planning our honeymoon, as neither my hubby nor I are gamblers. Other places we wanted to visit though meant that this glitzy town was on the way and we felt we had to take it in for a couple of days so decided to book into The Mirage, which is quite a luxurious hotel right in the middle of The Strip. I've already done a review on it and the Secret Garden within it so I'm going to concentrate ...
...2 mile section of Las Vegas Boulevard that is commonly shown on shows such as the original CSI, in what I call The Strip Experience. ***Hotels*** There are lots of hotels along this area that catch the eye, as the lights go on. We managed to have a look in a lot of them, spread over two nights but to be honest, once you get past the façade of the theme, they are all much the same. Obviously there are various levels of luxury within them but they ...

Visual entertainment at its best

Advantages: The stage, set and stunts
Disadvantages: none

Well this was my first Cirque du Soleil show - and I went with no preconceptions about it, and was pleasantly surprised. I went begining of last year with my seven year old daughter at the time and paid about $100 a seat - got a discount :) We were sat 2nd row and just right of centre - perfect!!! Walked through MGM and saw a couple of elaborately dressed entertainers which got us hyped up for the show, and you queue near the shop so it gives you ...
...grabbed some drinks and went in -not what I was expecting at all!! It was amazing! We walked into the big theatre which was taylor made for the show and very impressive, found our seats (good leg room and very comfy). But what I wasn't expecting was the stage - as there wasn't one, just a small wall surrounding what should be one , and a dark deep abyss beyond. Even more impressive was the fire, it was just shooting up from where the stage should ...
