El Cortez - Downtown Las Vegas
Review of El Cortez Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas by
carloslvnv
Advantages: Relatively cheap
Disadvantages: Noisy.
El Cortez is one of those old places that still survive the demolition frenzy in Las Vegas. Located in Downtown - not the best place to go if you're here for just one or two days - is one of the locals favorite, well sort of..
It used to be a place humming with activity, however, given the return of the machines (which locals favor) you can find some days where many areas are devoid of customers.
The cocktail waitresses provide a fair service and ... ...casino floor had a recent remodeling and everything looks a bit more pleasant than in the past. One restaurant (Roberta's) offers passable fair and there's also a coffee shop with prices starting around $6 (Gone are the days of .99c breakfasts). Also a new Chinese restaurant attached to the coffee shop for those who want to eat a lighter fare.
In general the whole place is a bit above others in the area (Total dumps) but way below many of the new ...

Place your bets. . . . No more bets!
Review of Binion's Horseshoe, Las Vegas by
dazmufc
Advantages: In the middle of it!
Disadvantages: No longer hosts the World Series of Poker!
The History of the Horseshoe
*******************************
Binions horseshoe is commonly known for its high stakes gaming whether it be poker craps blackjack etc.
In 1946 an illegal bootlegger by the name of Benny Binion needed to get out of Dallas, born in 1904 this texan cowboy had a list of offences as long as the arm of the law, they included theft, weapon charges and of course gambling. So Benny decided it was time to leave all this behind ... ...gambling was legal,NEVADA,In 1951 Benny brought an old casino and promptly changed the name to Binions Horseshoe.
One of the first things he did was raise the limits of the games to "Get em in" he duly raised the limits up to 10 times of what casinos around him did,he offered free drinks to slots machine players and organised limousines to pick up customers from the airport.
In the late 1950`s Benny was imprisoned for tax evasion not for his involvement ...

The MGM Grand is Grand Indeed!
Review of MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas by
anonymili
Advantages: A fascinating place to visit and so much to see
Disadvantages: One can get worn out just trying to explore the whole hotel
I stayed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for 3 nights and 4 days in August 2008 and can honestly say I had a great time. Please let me warn you that this is a fairly lengthy review of my experience.
We got a taxi from the airport to the hotel which cost about $7 which works out at less than £4. The first thing you notice about stepping out of the taxi and into the hotel is the fabulous air-conditioning. Vegas in August is VERY hot, well over 40o Centigrade! ... ...fabulously spacious lobby of the MGM and feel cooler straight away. On stepping inside the hotel (if you arrive by car) you are greeted by the large gold lion in the centre of the lobby in front of which it seems everyone who goes there for the first time rushes to have their photo taken in front of! As did I and my roommates! Once that first couple of minutes of excitement was over we went to queue at the check in desks of which there were about ...

Everything Vegas should be!
Review of Bellagio, Las Vegas by
spice81
Advantages: Room size, brilliant swimming pools, staff and the fountain show!
Disadvantages: absolutely nothing
After a 2 week roadtrip of average motels and national park lodges, our 4 nights in Vegas were luxurious! We booked into the Bellagio purely because of Ocean's 11 and it was the perfect end to our roadtrip. From the moment we arrived, we had excellent service. The porters didn't flinch when they saw our 4 giant suitcases and 2 huge water bottles (we'd been convinced we'd breakdown in death valley!) and check-in was really speedy. The concierge was ... ...helicopter tour of grand canyon.
We stayed in a quad room which was perfectly sized for us and the bathroom was amazing - all 4 of us could fit in the shower with room to spare! and we had a great view over the swimming pools.
I can't think of anything bad to say about this hotel, it was perfect Vegas - glitzy, lively and yet not overly "cheesy". Of all the hotels we visited while we were there, the Bellagio was by far the smartest. The fountain ...

Sin City On A Budget
Review of Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas by
lilmsnaughty1979
Advantages: Cheap, Central Location, Clean
Disadvantages: Not Flash
...A Budget
=
The Imperial Palace is not the biggest or boldest hotel an casino on the Las Vegas strip. Most people probably won't have even heard of it, it's not exactly iconic. However it does have two very redeeming features, location and price.
Ok, this isn't the Bellagio but let's face it who wants to spend all of their time in Vegas in their room when there's the opportunity to lose your money in any of the numerous and more ... ...or are celebrating something the Imperial Palace is more than adequate.
There are a number of restaurants in the Imperial Palace, the only one we used was the Emperor's Buffet for breakfast, that was very nice and very reasonably priced. Again, go and explore the strip, there's plenty of places to eat and most are reasonably priced.
The resident entertainment is the Legends lookalike show, it's like stars in your eyes but better. If that floats ...
