Well as some of you know already I have just been on holiday to Las Vegas and it was one of the best holidays I have ever had! I have so much to tell you about! I stayed for 10 days and did every Casino on the strip! Why Vegas? I wanted to go to Vegas because I love tacky over the top places and I love bright lights and free entertainment! We came across a great deal with www.bookatrip.com, which included a direct flight with Virgin from Gatwick - Vegas plus 10 nights accommodation for only £635 each. Virgin is the only airline that fly's direct to Vegas. The Strip from Mandalay Bay to The ... more

Advantages Advantages A unique place to visit, lots to do, some stunning attractions a short drive from town

Disadvantages Disadvantages Recession has hit the city hard - hotel, casino and shop closures abound.

I first visited Las Vegas in 1999 - back then the Desert Inn still (just) stood, and several of the places that drew blue collar workers to the town to gamble on the Strip were still trading, such as the Westward Ho, The Boardwalk and the Klondyke, a hotel that had stood for years on the southern end of the Strip before the Mandalay Bay went up transforming the area. However at that time there was a tangible sense of change in the air. In the early nineties Vegas had flirted with the idea of being perceived as “family friendly” in the midst of a recession and there were some remnants of this ... more

The first chance I had to visit Vegas was 15 years ago when I worked as live-in nanny, looking after twin girls. The family went to Los Angeles and Las Vegas on holiday over Christmas one year and I had a chance to go, all paid for as long as I shared the children's room and be on duty virtually all the time. I declined and it took until January last year when I finally set foot on Las Vegas soil - not Nevada, I went to Reno a few years ago. I was so impressed I went back for more later in the year. GETTING THERE Very few airlines fly direct to Las Vegas from the UK or Europe. Virgin have a ... more

Where else can you see the Eifel tower and the Statue of Liberty on one street, watch a pirate ship sink outside a hotel, or see a volcano erupting outside another one? I visited Las Vegas last year, and I can honestly say it took my breath away. From the minute I first saw the Welcome to Las Vegas sign, I was hooked on the place. This review will be ideal for anyone thinking of going to Las Vegas and wondering what they should try and fit in while they are there. There are a million and one things to do, so hopefully this will give you an idea of what you definately want to see while you are ... more
