You've a family of five, with three young children, and you're in a city famed for its gambling, dancing girls and general decadence - but you can spend some good times together.
During the day, the Wet and Wild water park on Las Vegas Boulevard is a popular, if expensive, option, and the Theme Park at the MGM Grand hotel offers a similar (if drier) experience. Circus Circus, only a few minutes walk from the water park, has a huge variety of circus acts performing inside at all times of the day and hundreds of fairground sideshows - expect to leave with an armful of cuddly toys! Other options for kids include the free trips to the White Tiger exhibit inside the Mirage, the lion habitat at the MGM Grand and Mandaly Bay's superb aquarium. Outside the theme parks, the $10 rollercoaster inside New York, New York and Luxor's Imax ride offer exhilirating, if expensive entertainment, and the $8 trip to the top of Paris' Eiffel Tower is well worth the money.
At night the city really comes alive, with several hotels providing free shows to the public, such as the volcanic eruption at the Mirage every 15 minutes, the naval battle every 90 minutes at Treasure Island, the Venetian's serenading gondoliers and the awe-inspiring dancing fountains every 15 minutse at Bellagio providing great entertainment and relief to your wilting wallet.
