I stayed in Las Vegas for only 2 nights but for that short period of time I realised it was a great place and i can't wait to go back there. I was 17 when I went, so i couldn't gamble any money, but i didn't feel like I missed out because there is so much to do.
We stayed in the Flamingo Hotel, which is in the moddle of the strip. I would definately recommend this hotel as the staff were great, really friendly and helpful and the facilities were great for the price (in August it cost about $700 for the flights and hotel for 4 adukts flying from Los Angeles). It has a great, large pool with small hot tubs, and lots of exotic animals (and flamingos) in the gardens. It also has a great restaurant choice-for $8 each we had dinner which was a buffet, all you can eat, starter, main, desert and drinks. Great value.
For much of the trip we simply waked up and down the strip and visited all the hotels, my favourite was the MGM with lions also. Ceasars is absolutely huge and the best hotel for shopping myself and my mum decided, although if you wish there are lots of out of town outlet centers, although these are hard to reach so i suggest getting a taxi or renting a car. Just looking at the hotles and walking along the strip can take days, so buying a monorail pass which runs along a mjority of the strip and stops at lots of the hotels is a good idea-$8 perperson for 24 hours.
The heat however is oppressive, and something I have never experienced before. As a redhead, I have to be careful! And I found the best palce for me between 11-3 was in the pool, just to cool down. Carrying lots of cold bottle of water with you is essential, and a mini fan can b life saver while walking.
Some of our group visited the Grand Canyon during our time here also. This was an expensive option for us, $400+ which doubled the cost of our trip to LasVegas. However all who went said it was an experience they will never forget travelling in a small plane and boat ride along the canyon. Higly recommended from my family.
Overall, this was an expensive part of our holiday, but one the highlights. Despite the heat, I really enjoyed my time here and cannot wait to revisit. I recommend this to couples, families, singles, anybody as there is something for everyone, if at times it can be expensive.
