I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times now, on both occasions as a stopping off point en route to Lundy, a small island just across the Bristol Channel. The hotel is impressively run by Hilary and her husband Robin, with a super friendly and efficient receptionist named Helen.
Rooms are comfortable and well furnished with fridges and everything that you need for your comfort and convenience. The hotel itself is situated just outisde the town centre, almost opposite the long stay car park, which provides a short cut into town along the harbour front. They offer ample parking, and a particularly useful Lundy package for those visiting the island, whereby if you stay for a night either before or after your trip to the island, they will pay for a taxi down to the harbour and let you leave your car free of charge for the duration of your stay.
As someone who has to have a wheat free diet and therefore needs to take half their food with them to the island, the fridges in the rooms are particularly useful, as it means I can take items such as wheat free veggie sausages etc with me. They also provide a microwave in the downstairs cloakroom for guests to use, so they can heat up ready meals or takeaways etc.
It is possible to book an evening meal, but they are a bit on the expsneivs sidem and when I stayed the restaurant was closed anyway, as they were advertising for a new chef. I believe though that they have since found one.
I would definatley recommend this hotel and will be booking up again myself very soon, as another trip to Lundy is looming !
