The readers of the German business magazine CAPITAL have recently voted for Lauda Air as the Best Airline of the Year for the third time.
Lauda stewardesses are known to be very friendly, they are also know for wearing blue jeans and the typical red cap (as Niki Lauda always does, since the time when he used to drive for Ferrari many years ago).

Lauda Air offer both scheduled flights and charter flights, mainly from and to Vienna, using Boeing 737, 767 and two large 777 (to Miami and Sydney), and for connections within Europe they operate a number of Canadair regional jets.
They do operate two daily flights from Manchester to Vienna (one in the morning at 09:00 hrs and one in the evening at 19:00 hrs) using a Canadair regional jet. From Vienna to Manchester they leave at 07:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs local time, the flight time is a little more than 2 hours.
This is the only direct flight from Manchester to Vienna, and I have been on that flight many times. If you have a chance, you should fly to Vienna and enjoy the excellent service of Lauda Air.

Catering on board is provided by the famous F1 caterer DO & CO, so you may expect something significantly better than on most other European airlines.
At the morning flight, for example, they serve breakfast, which means
- Fresh orange juice - Fresh fruit salad - Ham rolls stuffed with scrambled eggs - Toast au fromage & grilled tomato - Bread & Croissants out of the breadbasket - Coffee or tea
all served on nice triangular china plates (no plastic).
For dinner, after the starter & salad, they usually offer two menus to select from, one of which is fish (salmon) and the other option being chicken or pork. After the main course, they serve a special Austrian sweet dessert.
There is actually no difference between business class and economy class other than if you are seated at the very back you might not have two choices left for the main course in case that most of the people in front of you had selected the same option.
The Canadair regional jet is a small plane with just 52 seats (13 rows), and there is not a lot of space available. This is equally true for storing larger pieces of handluggage, but they offer a good service 'At aircraft delivery' which means that you hand over your luggage when boarding the aircraft, and you collect it back right after you leave the plane, so you can avoid waiting times in the arrivals hall.
The costs for the flight are not much different from other airlines, but the service is much better ('Serive is Our Success' is the statement they use). Check out for special offers at certain times of the year (www.laudaair.co.uk).
The majority of Lauda Air shares is now owned by Austrian Airlines, and therefore Lauda Air is also participating in the Star Alliance frequent flyer programme called Miles & More with Lufthansa being the leading airline. So you can earn airmiles when flying Lauda Air, and (as a Miles & More member) you can also spend your miles on free tickets for Lauda Air flights.
The airline code for their scheduled flights is NG (I don't know why - it seems not to be similar to Lauda Air at all), and for charter flights it is LDA.
If you live near Manchester and want to travel to Vienna, make sure you fly Lauda Air and enjoy the excellent service.
...back was not that different. Lauda have joined forces with Tyrolean and Austrian Airlines meaning a huge number of desks in Vienna from which you can check in. The staff here seemed a little bored but were polite nonetheless. As always they felt the need to circle my gate and seat numbers on my boarding pass….do I look like someone who couldn’t read it for themselves? Never mind. Luggage ********** One of these days I’m going to ... ...by one from Manchester. This basically means I probably will be flying Lauda again in the not too distant future. It wasn’t a bad experience this time, or any of the times I’ve flown with them, but they aren’t BA so given the choice I’d suggest the home grown lot. ...

Advantages: Best food in the skies, excellent service Disadvantages: none
Lauda Air, a subsidiary of Austrian Airlines and member of the Star Alliance, is by far the best of all the fifty-something airlines I have tried, as I will report in full detail. That's both for Business and Economy, continental and intercontinental. The bad news is that a recent review of the whole Austrian Airlines Group (AUA) by McKinsey management consultants suggests that Lauda's scheduled services shall be fully merged into Austrian Airlines, ... ...former Formulare One driver Niki Lauda from the board. Anyway, it may take a couple of years before Lauda Air is grounded, so you've got plenty of time to try them out. And I hope my review may encourage you to do just that.
So here is my review: (I should say that my opinion is based on the scheduled flights only, I don't know about their charter flights)
Lauda operates flights from its Vienna hub to many destinations in the mediterranean, as ...

Advantages: cheap and friendly Disadvantages: played the same films
...bad thing to say about Lauda Air. I flew with them from London Gatwick to Melbourne Australia with a stop over in Malaysia and Austria and I think there is nothing to fault about them. The tickets are cheap and when we had to had to wait 6 hours at Austria's main airport in Vienna we were given a free trip around the city so we wouldn't waste time. We flew on a 777 (latest Boeing) which was installed with tv's for everyone, games etc etc. A 23 hour ...

Advantages: Friendly and efficient Disadvantages: none
...do with a lesson from Lauda in "in flight catering" The Lauda plane was very clean, with nice toilets and the level of service was superb. The stewardess's were nice and helpful, serving both food and drinks in a friendly and efficient way, the flight itself was smooth and on time with little or no turbulence and a lovely landing. Our luggage was through to collection very fast and aided a quick arrival at vienna airport.
Would definately use lauda ...
