One of downtown Toulouse's most appealing cost-conscious bistros occupies the street level of a historic 18th-century mansion immediately adjacent to Town Hall (Hôtel de Ville). Established in 2004, it provides cost-conscious dining within an environment ringed with the pink-colored bricks of antique Toulouse, beneath a ceiling supported by equivalent vaultings. Menu items feature contemporary twists upon time-tested French specialties, many of them heralded by workaday diners who appreciate the attractive ratios of value-to-quality. The best examples include an unusual version of macaroni studded with flap mushrooms, truffles, and foie gras; and a version of cassoulet (the specialty of France's southwest) that's made with both duck and pork. An appropriate starter is a braised slice of foie gras with peaches and grapes.
Advantages: Informative, fun exciting for all ages Disadvantages: trnaslator batteries, food prices, not enough time to see and do everything!
...A few years ago my mother-in-law bought a plot of land in the south of France with the intention of building a house to live in. That was the summer of 1998. That Christmas, my husband and I went to visit and we crammed as many wonderful places into our week holiday as possible. One place in particular was fascinating. This place was le city de l’espace, Toulouse. (Space City for anyone not up on the French lingo!) It was a relatively new attraction when we visited – less than a year since first opening. It was a huge place with outdoor and indoor attractions.
As it was the middle of winter (and even the south of France has a winter!) we decided to get the outdoor bit over and done with first as it was very cold and windy although the sky was clear and blue and the sun was shining. There was plenty to see and do...

...The crown Plaza hotel in the centre of the old town of Toulouse is a great place for a romantic weekend break. BMI fly in to Toulouse from Manchester so two hours after boarding the plane we had just a twenty minute (20 Euro) taxi drive from Toulouse Blagnac airport to get to the hotel. I booked using the www.ichotelsgroup.com website which is a very easy way of finding the best hotel anywhere in the world within the group (Holiday Inn, Intercontinental and Crowne Plaza). So I had read that the location for this hotel was on Place Capitole in the centre of the old town of Toulouse. What a result. We didn't hire a car because we just wanted to stay in the city centre and do the café / museum / cathedral / restaurant chill out weekend and from this hotel just a short walk to all the above was possible. One of Toulouse's best known...

...Toulouse is a wonderful City that is often missed by the traveller. It is used by many skiers during the winter as a transit point for the Pyrenees or Andora.
The city is a true contrast between ancient and modern. The ancient being the old town full of wonderful museums and quaint resturaunts. The modern being the new developments associated with the new industries moving into Toulouse mainly attracted by the presence of the Airbus Industrie facility.
Toulouse is now one of the major centres of the European Aircraft Industry and as a result has quite a cosmopolitan flavour.
I can highly recommend it as European destination for a short (or long) break....
