Le Canonnier, Grand Baie

I went to Le Cannonier for 14 nights for my wedding and honeymoon and I couldn't have asked for more. From the minute we set foot into the resort on the sweltering day - I will never forget it - the smell, the sound, the whole thing. We were greeted with a cocktail and a freezing cold flannel that smelt of heaven before we were shown to our room. The room was lovely, airconditioned and modern with idyllic views. Having read several reviews before going we didn't have such high expectations for the food but were pleasantly surprised. The was always a huge selection from meats to pizza and pasta to salads and vegetables. Delectable desserts and fruit were always hard deny yourself! We were greeted with a cocktail and a freezing cold flannel that smelt of heaven before we were shown to our room. The room was lovely, airconditioned and modern with idyllic views. Our bed had been laiden with flowers and petals. We both felt like the world had been lifted from our shoulders soon after our arrival, we even seemed to walk slower!

Having read several reviews before going we didn't have such high expectations for the food but were pleasantly surprised. The was always a huge selection from meats to pizza and pasta to salads and vegetables. Delectable desserts and fruit were always hard deny yourself! You could never go hungry as food was available just about all the time, plus your mini fridge is replenished daily with crisps, chocolates and great beers! If you felt like a change there are some lovely restaurants just nearby. Taxi's are cheap.

The staff were always friendly and helpful, most watersports and activities were included. We got clean swimming towels daily. They have a great spa if you want to treat yourself to a massage/reflexology/manicure/pedicure etc.

Our wedding was beautiful and completely stress free. I didn't have to organise anything and the hairdressor was fab!

I would recommend trying to go when South African children are still in school as towards the end of our holiday they broke up and there was a sudden influx. Also, ask to stay in beach apartments if possible, it could get quite windy on the other side of the resort which were the garden apartments.
