Advantages: Suspense built well in parts, a bit funny at times. Disadvantages: Poor script, very flat film on the whole, lacks overall energy and excitement.

Never does 'The Cottage' ever seem to really get going, it paces along and is mildly amusing in parts, on the whole however the film just fails to impress and there's a lot of time spent here merely waiting for things to happen. The jokes are few and far between, the horror aspect is often incredibly predictable, and whilst I did enjoy the film a little in places; overall I'd have to say that I wasn't really that impressed by 'The Cottage'. There were elements that I quite liked about the film, not enough to ever keep me completely entertained however and frequently I found myself wondering when the film was going to come to its end.

Introduction
Maybe you haven't heard of 'The Cottage', it hasn't had a major release anywhere across the world (including the U.S.), but I watched it close to the release date of the 14th of March. On leaving the cinema I couldn't decide on which way my opinions were going; did l like it, or didn't I? Hopefully this review will help me to decide. Firstly, it is a fairly low budget film; and I can only describe it a horror comedy. Filmed mainly on the Isle of Man and Yorkshire, you can imagine the kind of scenes this film has.
Plot

I had never heard of Krishna Cottage (a Hindi language film) before I sat down to watch it so I had no expectations either way, good or bad. Knowing that it Sohail Khan was billed as the lead didn?t give me any high expectations of the film as I?ve never really been a fan of his.
PLOT SUMMARY
The film starts with a professor donating a book he?s written to a college entitled ?Nine and a half stories? (that?s the English translation of the book?s actual title). When asked why it?s not ten stories he says it?s because the last story is unfinished. The principal of the college locks the book away in a storage room and tells his staff not to let anyone near it.
