Hoping for a short break in the sun we opted for Nice which is a great city. The hotel was located on the main promenade , easy walking distance to all the big fashion shops and the old town. It was also a very easy bus ride from the airport, the bus stop just outside the hotel. Approx 3 euros for a bus journey considerably cheaper than a taxi! The staff were helpful, all fluent in English, the standard room was spacious, TV minibar and nice toiletries provided. The rooftop pool was a great place to relax, with a stunning view over the sea, nice comfortable sun beds, towels etc, good sun spot, as was the rooftop restaurant - excellent in terms of service and quality of food. Breakfasts were served in the restaurant inside the hotel, a buffet style inc cooked and continental foods, fruit, cereals etc etc plenty of good quality available, good service. There was also a small gym which I did not use. The hotel also had a private beach with a restaurant directly opposite the hotel, this was also an excellent place to eat. In addition to this sunbeds were available and waiter service for drinks and snacks. There were changing facilities and toilets inside the restaurant area. We couldn't have asked for anything else! The only complaint I have about this hotel is the additional costs we had to pay. Charges were made for hire of beach sunbeds/towels/parasols etc - about 24 euros for 2 people for the whole day even for hotel guests. Hotel guests were also charged for sunbeds/towels/parasols at the rooftop pool which I found a bit excessive. Overall a good quality hotel, plenty of facilities and excellent location, just be prepared for the hidden extras! We stayed in June/July - weather excellent, although the hotel was busy it did not have an adverse effect on the experience.
Advantages: location, location, location Disadvantages: On main promenade so can be a bit noisy
...bay. The hotel is a Le Meridian so all the usual services are available - excellent restaurant, spacious lounges, well appointed bedrooms etc. The features which make this hotel stand out are the roof top swimming pool and balconies, together with a roof top restaurant where you can eat in the open air and watch the sun set at the same time. Magnificent! Rooms with a garden view and/or city view are a less noisy (and cheaper) but they don't have ...

Advantages: Huge Rooms and the best of the best service Disadvantages: Expensive
I won this trip through my local radio station POWER FM. and just as well it was all free as for 1 room which was basic by their standards and LUXURY by mine!!! was £290 a night! everything in the bathroom was marble and everything in the bedroom satin.
The beach has its own private pool ehich looked good although we went in January so bit cold to don the bikini!!!!
The minute we arrived at the hotel we had a porter bring our suitcase to the room ... ...the american movies) this was a taste of the service we would recieve . The 1st evening we had dinner in the resturant which was nice but not the kind of thing im used to starter was rissoto with some cheese, and steak which was very rare!!!! This scared the bjeebaz out of me as it looked like something out of a horror film . I had to swallow my pride& ask the waiter 2 cook it abit more for which i got a funny look (guess i offended them). The Hotel ...

Advantages: Central, discounted rate Disadvantages: Dingy dump of a room, poor service
...time scouring the internet for cheap online hotel discounts. Imagine my delight when I managed to secure a room in the 4 star LeMeridien Russell Square. This is in the Bloomsbury district, and I had read this was a nice area. From all appearances, the hotel was central, classy looking and within yards from a tube station. For a mere £63, a double room with en suite could be all ours, surrounded by 4 star luxury. I was elated when I discovered the normal rate was usually around £100 a night on the weekend.
I have never stayed in any of the other LeMeridienhotels, but I gathered they are a chain. Still, this place looked as though it had style and character, or at least so the website indicated- certainly more charm than a Travelodge or similar.
I was looking forward to views of Russell Square, comfortable lounges and cozy bars...
