Advantages: Fantastic period building but thoroughly modern facilities. Disadvantages: A public transport ride away from the centre of Turin.
I have just got back from a trip to Turin and a stay in the LeMeridien Lingotto and it's one of the best hotels I have stayed in.
Converted from an old Fiat factory the building oozes period charm from the outside but has been thoroughly updated inside with fantastic quality fittings and interesting artwork including the original architectural submissions from 1984. This hotel is famous (infamous) for having maintained the original roof top test track that was used when it was busy manufacturing Fiats throughout the 20th centruy. Better still you can actually get a key from reception and take the lift to the roof and access the test track, where you can relive in your mind the sights of Minis tearing around as seen in the movie "The Italian Job". They actually encourage you to use it as a jogging track and indeed this roof top is ...
on and off the trains. Upgrading to first class at a cost (what it cost us) £39 each is well worth it. You get extra leg room, and plenty of extras like champagne, drinks, and a meal.
Travelling by taxi to your hotel is somewhat difficult, and you may (like we were) be charged extra for being in a wheelchair, plus extra luggage-a totally unacceptable behaviour.
Overall:
I would highly recommend this hotel, it is a touch of class, and brings you into a ?special? status. Prices range and they currently have special offers so why not check their web site (stated below)

I have only had the pleasure of staying at LeMeridien Kuala Lumpur once for a good three day trip back when I lived in Malaysia. The stay gave me the opportunity to experience this European styled hotel in an Asian city and today I will give you my insight into my long weekend break!
Booking
The stay was booked over the telephone direct with the hotel?s reservation agent. I had received a promotional voucher from the hotel when I took lunch with friends a few weeks before and the voucher gave me a complimentary upgrade to the level above the room rate I booked. I needed to stay in KL for a few days for some much needed R&R so I thought I would take advantage of the Le Meriden?s deal and decided to stay with them.
I chose their executive suite but was only going to be charged for a normal executive room at around £80 per night ...
