quaint boulangeries from yesteryear and needle-point boutiques are still present and active. This area has been the favorite place for artists and bohemian life for centuries. Now and since the world success of Amelie's and Moulin Rouge movies, Montmartre remains one of the major attractions in the capital. The property features a warm welcome and a 24 hour front desk, a lift, a comfortable lounge, and small pets dogs are welcome in the property.
Advantages: Lots to see and do, the metro, Disadvantages: Eating out can be expensive, everyone else is there too (everyone loves Paris)
...anyway so it was not a big issue for me. The most fascinating thing about the Centre Pompidou is the building itself. It seems like they have turned it inside out so there are pipes, steel, escalators etc everywhere…the building stands out in other words. This area is not very far from the shopping center Les Halles and I think it is one of the few places in Paris where we felt a bit uncomfortable with our surroundings. With the crowds I guess it is an ideal place for pickpockets to operate. But there are some fun things in the area…like the colorful fountain on Place Igor Stravinsky, the public clock "Le défenseur du temps" or the Fontaine des Innocents which stands on the site of a former grave yard…I will get back to this when we talk about the catacombs. The public clock "Le défenseur du temps" looks great but according to the guidebook...

...It was my wife’s 40th birthday, so what could I do that was a little special? What about a trip in a hot air balloon? That was out as she doesn’t like heights. What about a weekend in Blackpool? Not an option as it isn’t her favourite place. So I choose Paris. It would be our first time out of the country together and as a couple with no children! And where better than the romantic capital of the world? So I booked the short stay at my local Thomas cook, and we decided on Le meridian hotel in Montparnasse – Paris.
The hotel was built in 1974 and has 25 floors, with eight lifts (elevators) and 953 rooms.
The hotel offers a range of ‘extras’ including, 24 hour room service and reception and concierge desk: Fax machine, interconnecting rooms, e-mail facilities, Currency exchange, Laundry/dry cleaning service, Safe deposit...

Advantages: The beauty and the atmosphere Disadvantages: pickpockets and street beggars (like any city)
...because they are outside but covered in clear plastic. (They are very difficult to describe!)
Le Tour Eiffel
The view, especially from the top floor! It is incredible. You an see all of Paris. It is also a brilliant setting to take some panoramic pictures. However the bad things about the Eiffel Tower are that there are the people who hassle you to buy porn pens and other rude souvenirs and that unless you have a prebooked group ticket you can pretty much guarantee a huge long queue to get to the first floor.
Le Louvre
I am not an art fan, so the only reason I went to the Louvre was to see the Mona Lisa, that was it. However there are many more interesting works in the Louvre, such as the Venus de Milo. What is also good to see is the underground bit of the museum where you can see the original foundations of the Palace. I would say...
