Advantages: Central location but quiet, elegant, luxurious Disadvantages: Central location but not too easy to find
in trade. Also the hotel manager's huge smooth coated purply coloured dog, - not sure what make it was but definitely a pedigree of some sort - which sleeps all day in a basket to one side of the reception desk - loves Markies, I discovered.
The hotel is not in a fancy location. It is in a back street about 120m from Calais' main thoroughfare and shopping centre. However, we were able to park the car outside the hotel with ease at night for free. The most amazing thing about France is that they haven't caught on to that most unjust of British stealth taxes - the PARKING FEE. Not once, either in town or at several car parks along the coast, did we have to pay a parking fee.
So to our purchases. In Cherbourg we use the supermarket Le Clerc. In Calais we couldn't find Le Clerc although there is one, and went to the Carrefour, about 3 ...
Advantages: great pool, good cabins and great deals available Disadvantages: 15 minute drive from main parks
I went to Disneyland last week with my family and stayed there for 3 nights at the Davy Crockett Ranch. I have now visited Disneyland Paris 6 times and have also been to Disney world in Orlando as well last year. However I have stayed at the Disney hotel and a few of the others but I have to say that Davy Crockett ranch has to be one of the best ones there and certainly my favourite as it has so many great features and offers much more as well as being more free.
The Accommodation:
When you stay there you will be put in a small wooden cabin in a particular area which are all named such as Tomahawk or Bobcat. Each small 'camp' includes about 50 to 100 cabins all with separate parking spaces and outdoor bins. Inside you have a choice of either a one or two bedroom hut and all of them can sleep up to 6 people, with a double bed ...
Advantages: cheap, fun, quick. Disadvantages: None! We are after all talking about cheap booze and fags!
!) man if we could change the times to come back earlier, he advised that we could go on any ferry at any time as long as there was room! Brilliant, we got a wriggle on and instead of having to wait an hour to get ours we got on the 15.15!
We drove straight onto the ferry and left the car to go on deck. The ferry had a duty free shop selling cigs, wines and spirits. There was a café, a brasserie, a pub, a kiddies play area and a games room, plenty to keep you occupied for the 70 or 90-minute journey. Our journeys both took 90 minutes, there is just one of their ferries that will do it in 60 and that is the newest and largest – The Rodin. The other ferries are The Cézanne and The Manet. The crossing was calm and quite pleasant, I have never been on a ferry before but I much prefer it to flying.
We arrived in Calais at 16 ...
