I go away from home quite a lot since I have been living in France, and one of my most frequent stops is Paris.
One of the things that I miss from home is my Internet connection, but Paris is a Cosmopolitan City and offers a good range of Internet cafes. Le Shop is one of these and upon visiting for the first time, I was amazed first of all by the size of the cafe, and then by the range of services available.

Once connection, the computers are distant enough from each other to give privacy, although I doubt that this would be a problem for me, because there are so many different nationalities that the chances of your work being read by someone else is pretty limited.
You are given an hourly rate which works out cheaper with time, i.e. if you take half an hour, you pay a set rate of Ł1 (equivalent), three quarters of an hour is pennies different, but if you book to have several hours, then this is further reduced and makes it worth the session.
Although you are not permitted to smoke in the cafe, there are refreshments in the form of munchies, such as M & Ms, Mars Bars etc., although no drinks are allowed in the cyber cafe which kind of puts paid to the idea of a cafe !!
I found that this cyber cafe compared well against the others, in that the staff were friendlier, the availability of machines was super and I never had to wait, and there was never any argument about the time you had been online, as this is clocked from a central point.
As for atmostphere, this really is nice. Like minded people all together, sharing cyber world and it really was quite nice to see youngsters enjoying themselves so much, as they were not too noisy, but noisy enough to let us know they were having fun.
I found the whole experience great fun and have been back many times, whereas other smaller cafes tend not to interest me too much, as in general they have AZERTI keyboards, which I find difficult to use, and staff with a less than helpful approach.
Located in central Paris, this cafe was ideal for me on a day out, and I thought it enhanced my Paris experience. Information can be obtained at the Tourist Information Office who actually sent me to the cafe.
If you visit Paris, then this is a good stop to rest weary feet, to catch up with the mail, and to soak in the ambiance.
Stay in touch wherever you are. Paris offers you the alternative to having no email, and I enjoyed it very much, with up to date computers, fast connection, and the ability to use the messenger, which other cyber cafes seemed to discourage.
