Leeds Love Parade, Leeds

The Love Parade in Leeds what an event. The music was great, the drink was flowing what more could you want? Cheap accomodation? No problem. When the music's stopped and your out of energy where better to rest your sleepy head than a cardboard box in a field. First you have to go to one of those stalls which ripped you off charging £3.00 for a burger and wait for them to throw a box or two out the back. The Love Parade was destined to be the greatest night for any clubber since the old skool days, akin to the Berlin equivalent. Now, fair enough, it was the first one, and no doubt it will improve when it is planned again, but it was just too damn busy and packed at Roundhay Park to enjoy it as much as I had liked to. It took an hour and a half to between starting to queue for a shuttle bus in Leeds City Centre and actually getting to the site. The love parade in leeds, held on the eigth of july, was a fantastic event. Over 250,000 people crowded in Roundhay park to listen to the massive radio 1 sound stage, the Trade stage and the numerous floats doing tours around the boundary of the park. The atmosphere was great, very friendly, and even though it rained near the end, most people had a great time. It will probably be held again next year, and will be even better, as the council will have learnt from this event, and hopefully provide more toliets and more accomodation. ... more
