I spent many many happy years (well 6!) growing up near leeds, in Bradford in fact but me and my mates spent many ahappy weekend wandering around Leeds and shopping, going to the cinema, visiting the Cotton Exchange. Leeds has everything for every person on this planet of every background. For us impoverished teenagers, there were so many shops to go windowshopping in, including Harvey Nicholls which is a place you have to visit because it has everything in it imaginable. Thousands and thousands of shops. The Victoria Quarter has shops for the more sophisticated and richer shopper, clothes, antiques and music and more. Then there are the department stores around near the station for the less financially endowed or students. There are really nice cosmopolitan bars and restaurants sprinkled througout the city centre, and they give you lots of chance to sit down, relax and refresh with something nice. Lots and lots of the nicest pubs I have ever visited, which have a very nice atmosphere and, during the day, very nice menus. There is lots of culture to be ofund in Leeds, within the town centre. The West Yorkshire Playhouse is next to the bus and coach station, and puts on very high quality plays and shows. The town hall looks majestical and holds a lot of events, and right next door lies the art museum and library. The universitieslie just behind these wonderful buildings. Leeds is very very easy to reach, a centre to everything, with an airport 20 miles or so out (Leeds-Bradford), a coach and bus station, and a huge modern train station I had to commute through to get to school to finish my Alevels at 17.
The moment I first ever went to Leeds I fell in love with the place, and I know that anyone who ever goes shall never go away disappointed. I moved away before I could afford to go clubbing there, but I hear it is an experience out of this world (so one of my mates put it!)
I say its a wonderful place to go when you need to do Christmas shopping, because there si no way that you will come away without finishing it!

I have to relocate to Leeds with work and I have never been there. Your op was very informative and made me feel a bit better about going to a new place. Thanks Caroline

really? I have been here for 5 and a half months, and I am not really settling - I don't really like the centre, and it just feels dirty... I prefer Liverpool... Am I just judging it too quickly? (Esp. considering we seem to have had the worst and most dirty winter ever...
