I am myself from Norwich (see opion under other Cities) but my wife is from Leeds and we spend quite alot of time there seeing family and friends.
It is a great City, with the nightlife excellent in my opinion (see my opinion of Majestics under clubbing). There are many good bars, one being the Bar on the Lane (or something like that). We recently had my best mates stag night in Leeds and on this particular Saturday it was packed full of Hens nights :-).
I am a follower of Leeds United, although I of course support Norwich City. I went to a few Leeds games last year, including one of the European games and found the ground and facilities to be very good.
The shopping is excellent, which goes without saying means we spend alot of our time in Leeds going shopping (the wife has a big influence in this). There are many large Mall's, not all of which are in the Centre. One out of centre Mall is the White Rose, which is clearly signposted from the M62. Another one not too far away is the Glasshoughton village, again clearly marked from the M62.
Recent improvements to the motorway system has improved access, i.e. the M62 - A1 link road, but beware if you have not visited for a while. Keep a very close eye on the signs as you come out of Leeds centre, it is very easy to end up going in the wrong direction.
The people in Leeds, and to be fair in Yorkshire genreally are very freindly. You always seem to made to feel welcome.
A good tip if you like Indian Food is the Darbar Restaurant, details of which can be found at www.darbar.co.uk . Although you will find it is a little more expensive than the average Indian, the food is excellent and the setting wonnderful
