Been a Lancaster lad, i've only really experienced nightlife in and around the city. The only other time is when I strayed to the midsts of Preston a long time ago...only to experience very much the same feel Lancaster offers. So when my mate decided to take a road trip up to Durham and then stay in a travel lodge a group of us got together and chipped in the money. The motive been to check out the uni's of Durham and N'castle but also to have one jolly good night out on the lash...
We travelled into Newcastle and generally went around a lot of the pubs including Revolution, Bar Oz etc.. but as the night progressed we asked some locals who advise us on the club Legends. What with the cool sounding name we all decided to give it a shot, we paid £4 entrance fee and went in.
First impressions were good, 4 different floors with an array of music on each dance floor...the only problem being the place was virtually deserted! Although it was August and many of the students were at home the place was virtually empty, and it was a Saturday night. We were all gutted, the place looked so cool with great offers on pitchers, a drink called a "cowboy" and loads of comfy sofas and tv screens. Whether the place is usually heaving I don't know but maybe we just chose the wrong time...
It was like off one of the Phoenix Nights episodes, the DJ was blasting out music shouting "lets get ready to rock on... etc" and about four 15 year old kids emerged in the distance. As you can imagine we decided to leave within only 20minutes of being inside and went to this other club -Pizza Whsitle I think it was which was far better and although much smaller than Legends had a good crowd in.
Fortunately the night wasn't ruined but it was just a shame we experienced such a promising place on such a bad night...
