As a family, we went to Legoland Windsor for the first time on Sunday. Overall it was a fun day out, but there are a few things you need to know before you go. These are my top ten tips:
# Check your kids' height before you leave home. Some of the most popular rides have minimum height restrictions (1.0m or 1.1m, depending on the ride) so if your youngest is (for example) 98cm tall, a thick-soled pair of shoes could be a good idea!
# You can buy discount Legoland tickets online, which let you bypass the queues at the gate. I got our tickets at 365tickets.com, which was quite a bit cheaper than the prices on the gate. You just print out your voucher at home, so you can book at the last minute. Very important in March when you might want to check out the weather on the day before making a decision!
# Carry photo ID for all children. Some rides are restricted by age rather than height and you may have to prove your child's age.
# Don't forget your raincoats - you will want to ride the new Vikings' River Splash and you will get wet!
# If it's a nice day, take swimsuits for your kids so they can get properly wet at Waterworks. Otherwise, you might want to give this area a miss!
# Some rides require an adult to ride with each child under 1.3m tall. If you have more children than parents in your family, ask the staff on the ride about Parent Swap. This allows a parent to accompany two children on the same ride (one after the other) without having to queue twice, but it's not available on all rides.
# If you visit Legoland on a busy day (school holidays or a weekend), do the most popular rides early or save them for the end of the day. This includes the Dragon Coaster, the Driving School and Pirate Falls. The Sky Rider is very busy in the mornings so this is a good one to save for late in the day.
# Don't lug all your family's bits and pieces around the park all day - the lockers opposite the Sweet Stop and the Hill Train top station take a £1 coin.
# If it does rain, your best bets are the Magic Theatre, the Explorers Institute, the Imagination 4D Theatre and the Discovery Centre Workshop.
# Bring plenty of snacks to prevent meltdown in the queues for the rides.

Thanks! We are off there tomorrow & the info on the lockers was especially helpful!
