Advantages: Fairly cheap day out with lots of attractions Disadvantages: none
Twycross zoo is in Leicestershire near a little village called Twycross. This is one of the biggest and best zoos around. It opened in 1963 and covers about 50 acres of land. Currently it averages about 400,000 visitors a year, which proves how popular it is.
I must admit I`d never heard of it until my father-in-law took us there, but it is a day out all our family will always remember.

Advantages: Good transport links Disadvantages: Not as much to do as there can be in other places
Leicester was founded by the Romans in about 41AD. So, we've got just under two millenia of information to talk about then. Luckily, I'm only going to be talking about what you can see and do today.

Location

Leicester is slap bang in the middle of England and is about as far away from the sea as you can manage to be. You can find it on the A6 and the A47.
Rail links to Leicester are good, with connections ... ...can also easily get to Leicester by coach. The best way, in my opinion, is to use the National Express services, which take you to the St. Margaret's Bus Station.

Shopping

Leicester has pretty much all the major stores that you can think of, in fact, I can't think of any of the majors that we don't have.
There are two main shopping centres in Leicester City Centre. The first, and older, of these is "The ...

-> In general
Leicester holds a very cosmopolitan atmosphere and in general is a relaxed place to dwell. There are things to do there to suit everyone’s interests. The main qualm about Leicester is the fact that it does always seem to rain, guess that’s just Britain for you! -> Eating out
Finding somewhere to eat in Leicester is never a problem, so long as you like curry. Not really only joking! Leicester has a curry house for everyday ... ...to name but a few. Leicester is easy to walk around, there being 4 main roads to shop on. Leicester does hold a good number of alternative stores that offer more original but more expensive products. There was a great arcade called the silver arcade but unfortunately that has recently closed down.
Outside of Leicester is Fosse Park which is a retail park, this offers a number of large stores. A bus service is provided to and from Fosse Park.

Advantages: Relaxing and informal Disadvantages: Drinks a bit pricey
...Wherever you go in Central London you won’t be far from an ‘All Bar One’. The bars are all very similar - wooden tables and chairs and a few have nice big comfy sofas which you can sink into. The atmosphere is generally relaxed but some of the busier bars in Leicester Square can get rather busy. The variety of wines and bottled drinks is vast and they serve a reasonable amount of beers on draught. The food is excellent and well priced - my favourite is ham egg and chips but the tiger prawns are also very yummy. A good bar to meet, eat and drink. The only negative thing is that the price of drinks isn’t that cheap but you can always pay by plastic !...

Advantages: Brightly lit Disadvantages: Noisy, ugly, garish, lacking in architectural merit
...Piccadily Circus to me has never been a favourite bit of London. Frankly if I were a foreign tourist I would be rather disappointed with the place. It has always seemed to me to be garish, dirty, noisy, and generally lacking in architectural grace or harmony. Leicester Square, although also very busy,is,in my opinion,a much nicer area to explore. The Circus is also a let down in that Piccadily which leads into it is a very nice stretch of urban architecture and houses some great shops. When you arrive at the Circus, elegance has "gone out of the window". I do not understand why the site was not redeveloped years ago for it looks tatty and is not a suitable nodal point for a great world-class city....

Advantages: Good music, friendly people Disadvantages: Coats are a long way up
...Mass in Brixton is brilliant. First of all, it's a club for people who enjoy music more than most. By that I mean it isn't your cheese that Leicester Square provides tonnes of. It is more underground and the people you'll meet there are generally more interseting and less 'stereotype'. The music varies each night and in the month you'll see four different Friday nights and four different Saturday nights so there's plenty to choose from if you're fussy. The varying music to me is not too important however because each night has interesting music and the most important thing about the club is that all the poeple are really friendly. Don't be letting people's perception of Brixton put you off either, it is made out to be quite dangerous. Provided you don't go looking for trouble Brixton is as safe as anywhere else I've been and you...
