A handy alternative

Advantages: Very small - no queues or waiting around
Disadvantages: Very small - few facilities and still not many flights!

Over the last year, Ryanair has expanded its network of budget destinations across Europe, particularly in Germany. Previously, Frankfurt-Hahn was the only destination in this country, but now you have a wider choice, especially in what used to be East Germany, as Berlin Schönefeld, Erfurt and now Altenburg have been added to the routes available. Discover the secrets of the Stasi

Advantages: good exhibitions
Disadvantages: need to know German, not child or disabled friendly

This museum is dedicated to the somewhat haunting Stasi secret police force that operated during the years of the GDR, 1949-1990. The museum itself is free but any special exhibitions normally carry a small entrance fee of a few euros which is good value for money for what they contain. A good knowledge of German is recommended as there are limited copies of the English guide and this does not translate all labels, merely the main ones.
