I am an adventurous "Granny" constantly being told by my daughters to "act my age" I love to travel to far flung places where we always have adventures. I also design files for my plotter cutter whenever I have spare time.

Lembongan island is Paradise on earth. Travel to the island is through an Australian company based in Bali and is advertised in the hotels as the Hi tide huts. We took the plunge and were very impressed. We were looking for something "different" having travelled the length and breadth of Bali with local people in a 4 wheel drive. The journey to the island is by sea and can be done as a day trip, there is a lot missed if only going for a day. The huts look very primative when you arrive at the island being made from straw and standing on stilts on the beach. There is a ladder to get to your detached room and the bathroom and shower is a 100 mtr dash but more than worth it. The island is very sparcely populated with the huts on the south coast and a village of sea weed farmers on the north. Once the boat has returned to Bali and the day trippers gone it is the perfect hide away. We did a deal with a local man who picked us up in his "car" and took us around the island in the evening. We stopped in a cafe to wait for the sun to go down with the usual drinks, the owner of the cafe was so taken aback that 2 foreighners had gone there that she wouldnt let us pay the bill at the end. We had a wonderful evening, upon returning to the huts we were grreted by the 2 staff who then cooked dinner for us, this was eaten under a palm tree with only the stars and gheccos for company. Piped soft music coming from the trees made the evening perfect. The island was home for the night to us and a Danish couple wh didnt speak much English. All for about $US100. Beware that the local ferry to Bali leaves early every morning, we sat in the room watching it loading and were surprised that it stayed afloat. It is small and people even sat on the roof of the cabin.
