...I was afraid of my stay for one-day stopover without prebooking any hotel in Taiwan to Hanoi. I had been arrived early in the morning at 7.30 a.m. and the flight to Hanoi was departing the next day at 7 a.m. The airport, which should close at night, is 50 km from Taipei city and I was told that people shouldn’t speak hardly English and all is written in Chinese characters. Taipei was waiting with nice weather. I passed a gate, which checked my temperature by a calorimeter camera, a caveat against SARS. At the customs clearance I got a Visa for 1 month for free and near the exit was tourist information. There I was offered a free half-day sight seeing tour and I was supplied with a town map leaflet and information about the airport bus back and the possibility to stay overnight at terminal two. ...Having birthdays within 4 days of each other, Les and I decided a couple of years ago that we would stop exchanging gifts and instead, put the money we would have spent towards a weekend away together. Last year it was New York, this year it was Dublin. We booked the trip at the beginning of January on the internet via Expedia; we didn't have any hotels recommended to us so decided on the Clarion Stephens Hall Hotel as they were offering a deal on their suites - it was my birthday after all !! ~~ Getting There ~~ Once we arrived at Dublin airport, we caught the 'AirCoach' to the hotel. This is a 'luxury' coach service that drops off at 15 key points around Dublin Centre, including right outside the Clarion hotel ! ...Les Miserables is a musical made from Victor Hugo’s book and is the most amazing musical I have ever been to. It is in its own league. This musical is fantastic. You ever have a chance to see it whether at Broadway in New York or in London, you must seize this opportunity. I went to watch this musical a long time ago but I remember it so vividly. It has far from left my memory. Les Miserables is full of highs and lows, and the magic of it is that the spectators are drawn into those highs and lows, feeling ready to cry for joy at some points and out of sadness at another point. This performance is magnificent, I cannot enforce this enough.
