Lesvos is the home of the poet Sappho and now a pilgrimage for lesbians all around the world. Skala Eresos is a small and beautiful Greek village stretching along a dark sandy beach and crystal clear waters. The villagers are very accommodating towards the many women that visit - as it provides them with their livelihood more than anything.
It is a very laid back village - all music must be turned off by 1am and there is no nightclub. However, there is a small collection of women's bars along the main strip. It had a very relaxed atmosphere - not typical of a normal lesbian venue or bar (and i talk generally) - no-one had attitude and we met many lovely and interesting women. It was a refreshing change and somewhere i intend to visit once a year.
