Advantages: Location Location Location Disadvantages: Breakfast not included
Sara Inn may be a hostel but it certainly is a great place to stay. It is located very near the Sadat metro station close to the heart of downtown Cairo, near Tahrir Square.
Let me begin with the air port pick up service that is offered. As opposed to many other hostels, this service is genuine by Sara Inn. Someone will pick you up and deliver you to Sara Inn for the stated price. Of course it is entirely up to you to give any bakseesh on top of that. You only have to pay once you have checked in at the hostel. The price is usually 50EGP. The driver only gets half of that so I suggest tipping the driver.
The hostel itself is on the 7th floor. There is a lift so use it. If you dont take a taxi though, it may a bit difficult to find but I managed to find it. I asked around and there were people who were helpful enough to walk with me ...
A one minute walk from this hostel is an excellent coffee shop which served me a Bulgarian espresso as well as a pizza style bread for a measly sum of 1.7 bulgarian lev. Finding this hostel is easy as it is quite near the mall of Sofia. At the time of my visit the British Pound bought me 2 Bulgarian lev. A packet of 20 cigarettes from kiosks around Sofia vary in price and are cheap around 3-5 Bulgarian lev.
Around the hostel are some interesting restaurants which served us well for lunch and evening dinner meals. I will review a few restaurants in Sofia separately. All I will say is dining is both excellent in quality and good in quantity portion sizes as well.
About the Hostel Mostel
This is an interesting place of accomodation as during World War 2 the Greek family that owned this hostel were exiled back to Greece ...
Advantages: Gore fans will love this, there are disgusting displays of death galore. Disadvantages: The film lacks substance, relies heavily on shock value and little else is offered.
Released in 2006, 'Hostel' was the third film directed by Eli Roth. Having heard good things and previously loved 'Cabin Fever' which Roth also directed I had been really looking forward to seeing this film, when I saw it however I felt nothing but disappointment. Many had praised the film for its gory and grotesque nature, and yes Eli Roth does indeed forefront blood and guts quite freely here but really there is very little substance to this film whatsoever. I like my horror films to have a bit of depth, something about them that makes them stand out as sensational; nothing of this sort is apparent here and 'Hostel' is a purely visual display of disgusting deaths.
