Advantages: An important piece of American history. Disadvantages: longer in the queue than inside.

At the end of the exhibit you finally come to the Bell itself which is impressive to look at, with the added reward of the famous crack.

The new Liberty Bell Center itself is not the original site of the bell and is a fairly modern structure of concrete and glass surrounded by a well maintained lawn.
The exhibit is free to enter but the queue is more often than not extremely long and very slow moving because of the huge security measures as you enter. (I am talking airport style xray machines for all bags, walk through metal detectors and the occasional pat-down search.
Once you finally get inside you walk through a long wide hall with display boards giving the history of the bell and several screens that offer a video presentation and exhibits about the Liberty Bell, telling its historic origins and describing how the american people feel it is an international icon of freedom, the exhibit is run by National Park Wardens who are friendly and always at hand to answer any questions At the end of the exhibit you finally come to the Bell itself which is impressive to look at, with the added reward of the famous crack.
Taking in the whole experience, reading all the material, watching the video, and spending a few minutes at the Bell itself, (remembering the crowds they like you to move along) takes no more than 20 - 30 minutes.
On the plus side entrance is free and you are right in the middle of the fabulous Independence national park and the Old Arts district. (see my reviews on both).
It is all fairly interesting and well worth a visit if you have an hour to kill and don't mind the long wait outside. It is all very central to many of Philadelphias other sights such as independance hall, Betty Ross's House, the diamond district, the huge Market street Mall at 30th and Market and one of the 500 billiion places to eat. As a foot note, adjacent to the Bell on 5th and Market is the most wonderful hand-made chocolate store if you want to spend 20 minutes drooling.
