I just came back from a fabulous five days in New York so I am going to share my tips and experiences on a few of the Big Apple's major sights, the first one being the Statue of Liberty! The Statue of Liberty was actually a gift to the United States from the French, way back in the year 1886. It was given as a gesture of friendship and was to commemorate the centennial of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence. This is why the date July 4th is written on the tablet the Liberty holds in one of her hands. In the other she holds a torch. The statue was the first thing that immigrants saw as they reached the coasts of the United States (back in the late 1800's, early 1900's) and was seen as a beacon of hope/enlightenment and new life for the thousands of people that descended upon those shores. A Pearl at the Marina

We'd had some pretty good hotels on our trip to Andalucia, and we hoped that the hotel we had picked for our final three days wouldn't be any different. We wanted a comfortable room in a hotel on the beach with a nice sea view, but nothing too remote so that we could still enjoy all the facilities of a resort. Did we get what we wanted? Well, read on... We booked the HOTEL PERLA MARINA, in the town of NERJA, through bancotel.com. This is a Spanish based travel site whereby you purchase 'cheques' for 50 euros each. Depending on the hotel, season etc, a room costs between 1-3 cheques per night. This can mean savings of over 60% in some cases. Our Marina Home from Home

Advantages: Peaceful, tranquil, beautiful and very friendly
Disadvantages: Can be expensive

MARINA CARAVAN PARK GLASSON DOCK Marina Caravan Park is owned by South Lakeland Caravans. It is situated on the banks of the Lancaster Canal to the rear and overlooking the River Lune at the front and is near to the little village of Glasson Dock on the outskirts of the lovely city of Lancaster. The park is for static caravans only and has no touring site. It has 135 holiday homes that are all privately owned and are not available for subletting. The site is open from 1st March until 2nd January and is the perfect park for anyone interested in owning a holiday home. If you haven't recently been inside a static caravan (or holiday home as they are now known) you can't imagine just how comfortable and practical they are.
