Liberty Street and West Street

Advantages: A great city for kids
Disadvantages: Can be very hot or very cold

...for children. EAST SIDE MARIO'S My last two recommendations are eateries. The first is East Side Mario's, a chain, but an excellent one. When we lived there, they had "kids eat free Tuesdays", so we were regulars with our two youngsters. Apart from a menu that has loads of options for fussy children, there are barrels of monkey nuts in the bar area where you wait for your table. You are encouraged to throw the shells on the floor, which my kids loved! East Side Mario's is a Canadian chain with over 100 locations across the country, including one in Toronto at 151 Front Street West, not far from Union Station. This is an "American Italian eatery". The Statue of Liberty welcomes diners to a New York Lower East Side environment, complete with a Mulberry and Canal Streets intersection and a "Scalero Brothers" backroom. Advantages: The West End is very nice!
Disadvantages: No disadvantages

...All the historical places and famous parks are in the West End. The West End, spreading from the political centre at Westminster includes the political centre at Westminster includes the shopping area of Knightsbridge, Oxford street, Picadilly Circus and the fashionable Covent Garden; it hosts museums and galleries, among them are the Tate Gallery, the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery and the British Museum. In the West End there are houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace. The best known streets are: Whitehall with important Government offices. Advantages: Hamleys
Disadvantages: Too many people, too much traffic

...If you haven't been to London before, then go to Regent Street. Less chain-store oriented than Oxford Street, its best feature is easily Hamleys, with over 5 floors of toys and games. There is a great ice-cream shop close to the Piccadilly Circus end, as well as Cheers bar, themed on the American TV show, and lots of specialist shops like the Apple store, and Liberty's is just round the corner. However, if you've been to London before, then avoid this street, as it is always packed with people, and Saturdays are a complete nightmare. There are many better places to see, and I much prefer the streets leading off it, like Carnaby, which have more interesting shops, and are a lot less manic.... Read review

Advantages: Free transport around the Statue
Disadvantages: Not able to access the statue any longer since 9/11

.... When I made my visit to New York I did not make the trip to Liberty Island I used the Staten Island Ferry which is free and sails right past the Statue Of Liberty. The ferry can be boarded from Whitehall Street in Lower Manhattan the journey takes 25 minutes and provides some magnificent views all for free! I do have to advise you though that at times the ferry can be packed, and this can have some impact on your photographs, as you may see from some of mine!! However this is a fab experience and as it is free I have to recommend that you do it as you can end up spending a hell of a lot of money in New York on sightseeing and of course shopping! The Staten Island Ferry departs every half hour from Whitehall Street the weekday ferries operate from 12am every half which is fantastic considering that this is a free service, Weekend...
