My fiance and I have just returned from a 7 night all inclusive holiday to Torremolinos in Spain with Libra. We paid £200 each including taxes, transfers & booking fee.
We booked it 3 weeks before the departure date through Sky Text and were originally trying to get to Tenerife then we stumbled on this beauty and decided it was too good to miss.
The tickets arrived a week before departure just as Libra promised. The airline they use Excel is fabulous and the resort was absoluteley lovely. We diddnt see a brochure before booking but i went to our local travel agent and obtained a copy of Libra's winter sun brochure. The brochure said that the resort "Torremolinos Beach Club" had a main hotel then 74 apartments in the annexe, 5 pools, various sport activities, live entertainment every night and was suitable for couples, families and more mature people it also looked lovely and we discovered we had got it for over £200 pp cheaper than the brochure!
The only down side was that when our tickets arrived there was a note saying that there was building work in the Hotel next door and unfortuateley the booking agent never told us this.
On arrival at Malaga airport our rep met us in the terminal and directed us to our waiting coach which was new and had airconditioning, the transfer took less time than the brochure stated which was a bonus.
On arrival at the resort the rep directed us to check in and waited to ensure there were no problems. We were allocated one of the 74 apartments unfortunateley for us our apartment was over looking the building site! we could have been moved but diddnt want to be moved because our apartment was so clean and spacious that we were worried we would get moved somewhere of a less standard, the builders were very courteous though and diddnt start work until 9am most mornings even then you could barely hear any noise and besides who goes on holiday to spend their day in their apartment?
The weather was great, the food was beautiful, the people were lovely and we had an excellent time.
Although being typically more relaxed in Spain our rep was a bit late for the return transfer, only five minutes but she diddnt apologise which i thought was a bit rude, never the less she did telephone the airport en-route to check whether our flight was on time and it was 30minutes ahead of schedule!
She stayed at the airport with us to make sure check in was going to plan then said good bye to everyone individually and left us in the capable hands of her colleague Lorraine.
I thought for one of the smaller tour operators Libra presented themselves at a very high standard.
Libra were a tour operator that i had heard very bad things about but I must say that from start to finish they were great! They have quite a good website too which has the latest brochures online www.libraholidays.co.uk.
Advantages: None. We were totally ripped off. Disadvantages: Have you got a couple of hours to spare?
...We booked a holiday with Libra over Christmas and New Year at the Laura Beach hotel in Coral Bay, Cyprus, and we had been eagerly looking forward to it. However, thanks to Libra we didn't get it, or indeed a holiday approaching anything remotely like it. Instead, Libra:
Altered our flight times at the last minute causing us considerable extra expense and inconvenience, as we arrived back home a day later than we should have, and had to take an extra ... ...of apology or explanation from Libra over the way which we were treated; nor have they offered us even a penny in compensation - not even the £30.00 per person compensation their brochure promises to pay anybody without quibble if significant changes are made to their holiday arrangements at very short notice. In all the years we've travelled abroad we've never experienced anything like it, and we came home feeling like we needed a holiday, instead ...

Libra Holidays, also known as Skyhols.com (Sky Holidays) - both the same company, and with probably a few more added in there besides!
We've travelled with Sky Holidays before, not realising they were part of Libra Holidays, not that it makes any difference, just would be nice to know which company you are actually travelling with. What makes this group a touch better than the rest is that they include in-flight meals and resort transfers in their ... ...1 week's insurance.
The Libra and Skyhols websites are easy to use - I only have a couple of personal criticisms- when you enter the date you want to travel, you get dates either side of your intended date come up in the display of holidays available; that's OK if you aren't fussy about your travel date, but if you need to be specific then it can be frustrating seeing a holiday and then realising its not for the date you wanted! When I first found ...

Advantages: Smaller specialist Tour Operator Disadvantages: None that we could see.
Had our first holiday with Libra this year - free child place for 10-year old grandson, beautiful accommodation at Sandy Maria Apartments in Tsilivi, Zakynthos, and a friendly, knowledgeable, professional rep. Am impressed with the company overall really, they seem to be in cahoots with the Excel Airline which also gave us very good service and I have just now discovered their excellent Website (www.libraholidays.co.uk)which has the contents of their ... ...which show exactly where each hotel/apartment block is situated - obviously more useful if you know the resort but gives a good general idea of location. Have not used the site to book but it certainly looks as though that will be possible. They do feature special offers such as "two weeks for the price of one" on certain properties and, as with most of the smaller operators, their prices are very competitive and things like flight supplements are ...

WARNING DO NOT BOOK WITH LIBRA HOLIDAYS
Went to, Kos in greece with Libra holidays on the 6th of sept, but never again. XL airlines went bust was not told by Lbra holidays had to go to one of there offices to find out if we would get a flight home. Was given very little information and told to return to there office later in the day when they would have more information, this was sat the 13th. Was due to fly home on sunday the 14th at 6.30am. Was ... ...to the airport without a libra rep, left at the airport only to find out that our flight had been cancelled and we would be flying at 5.45 am with british midlands. The rep then turned up about 1am and told the few people who went and asked her that the plane coming in would hold 300 passengers and she didn't know if we would all fit and she didn't know what the rest of the passengers would do as there was not another flight until wednesday the 17th, ...

Advantages: Fabulous holiday for Scuba Divers Disadvantages: Just the heat, if you're not used to it!
...up travelling to Egypt with Libra by default, really - I wanted to visit this resort and they were the first tour operator offered to me.
I stayed at the Hilton Hotel, Shark's Bay, which is a large hotel with it's own section of the beach. I travelled in a group of 5 women - a 'girlies' holiday, so we chose one of the top quality hotels from a safety aspect.
The fortnight didn't get off to a very good start as a case belonging to one of our party ... ...Obviously, there was nothing the Libra Rep could do at that moment in time, but she promised to try and trace it for us. Four days went by before the case finally arrived at the hotel, but the Rep was excellent. The other tour operators told their people with lost luggage they had to collect it themselves from the airport, which involved a 15 minute taxi ride and a lot of messing about trying to get into the arrivals hall. And then their cases weren't ...

Advantages: Choice and Comfort Disadvantages: Their own interest at heart
not grasp the kind of holiday we were after (or wouldn't because First Choice didn't have it).
Eventually I asked her if she had checked the computer for LibraHolidays (the brochure I knew had the holidays I wanted) . A very fake act of that one having completely slipped her mind ensued. Anyway, there were a few hotels in our chosen resorts to choose from and we booked!!!
Had I not been so clued up on the Island as a whole and knew exactly what I wanted I could have ended up with a nightmare (for us) of a holiday in resort we would have hated.
I don't remember it being like this when I booked previous holidays and I always thought of Holiday Hypermarket being more independent than other travel agencies.
I can understand them not wanting to trawl through every single tour operator when you may walk away at the end of it ...
Advantages: Great bars and restaurants, cheap excursions and friendly people Disadvantages: None
This was our second visit to Cyprus. The first time was 3 years ago and that time we stayed in the beautiful resort of Protaras. While we were there we visited Paphos for the day and we decided that the next time we came to Cyprus we would give Paphos a go.
We booked our holiday with Libra/Priceright Holidays. We'd never travelled with them before but I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. We stayed in the Palepaphos Apartments in the Kato district which is at the east side of the resort. The apartments were right in the heart of possibly the liveliest part of Paphos and we were surrounded by many bars, restaurants and discos. Our apartment was really clean, well decorated and spacious. My only complaint would be that the bedroom of the apartment had net curtains which meant that we were woken up every morning at around 5ish ...

Advantages: History, atmosphere, weather.... I could go on! Disadvantages: Not for you if you hate to haggle!
Hearing on the news that bombs have exploded with tragic consequences at a destination you have just locked your suitcase to travel to is not the best start to any holiday. We spent the whole of the day before we travelled to Taba and Nuweiba constantly on the phone to our tour operator (LibraHolidays) and the Foreign Office, both advising us that it was safe to travel.
Being the staunch Brits that we are, we arrived at Gatwick airport the following day, the two ladies of the party feeling much trepidation, whilst the two men headed for the bar! A couple of drinks later and the Egyptian jokes started to flow 'Do you sphinx it will be safe there? I hope the camels haven't got the hump with us.......' you know the type, this set the mood for our whole week's stay! Our flight was not full - there were many who had decided not to take ...
