I ended up travelling to Egypt with Libra by default, really - I wanted to visit this resort and they were the first tour operator offered to me.
I stayed at the Hilton Hotel, Shark's Bay, which is a large hotel with it's own section of the beach. I travelled in a group of 5 women - a 'girlies' holiday, so we chose one of the top quality hotels from a safety aspect.
The fortnight didn't get off to a very good start as a case belonging to one of our party went missing at the airport - along with cases belonging to many other tourists. Obviously, there was nothing the Libra Rep could do at that moment in time, but she promised to try and trace it for us. Four days went by before the case finally arrived at the hotel, but the Rep was excellent. The other tour operators told their people with lost luggage they had to collect it themselves from the airport, which involved a 15 minute taxi ride and a lot of messing about trying to get into the arrivals hall. And then their cases weren't actually there! Our rep went to the airport herself, returning 3 hours later and had the case delivered to the relevent room. How's that for service?!
The Hotel was great, with a huge pool and the option of walking a few minutes to the beach if that suited you better. There is a wild dolphin who visits the bay on most days, playing with the snorklers and generally having fun - a free chance to swim with a dolphin, something you pay a fortune for elsewhere! There were many people on Scuba Diving holidays - not something that interests me, but I was assured that it was one of the best diving resorts in existance.
The food at the hotel was very good, but inevitably most people went down with 'Tutankhamun's Revenge' at some point during the holiday. I think this was mainly due to the heat - 45-47 degrees on most days, with some days hitting 50!!
We were all-inclusive, and paid around £850 each. Some of the trips offered were expensive, but well worth it. There is a coach trip to Cairo for the day for £135, but as that involves a 5 hour drive each way, we elected to pay £185 and travel by plane. The day was excellent. We saw all the usual sights - the pyramids at Giza, the Egyptian museum and a Papyrus museum.
Libra also run a 'Desert and Stars' trip during the evening which is worth every penny of the £35 cost. It includes a visit to a Bedouin village, dinner and a few hours right in the middle of the Sinai desert with an astronomer, learning about the stars. We took pictures of the moon through a high powered telescope and viewed numerous constellations.
I would definitely go back again, this time with my husband, and would use Libra again.

Hi - the local people we met were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Everyone was polite, friendly and helpful. This may have been because most were employed in the 'holiday service' industry, or maybe that's just the cynic in me! Either way, we felt very welcome. :)

Egypt sounds nice but there is the locals to consider, I havent heard anything about the Egyptians themselves good or bad and whether they extend warmth and hospitality during your visit???
