My family and I have visited Jesolo twice in the last 4 years. Here are our thoughts on Lido De Jesolo:
It has been and in some respects rightly called the Blackpool of the Adriatic. I can see why people would say that. Its a family resort primarily and has lots of shops and local traders all plying for your euros. There however the similarity ends.
Jesolo is wonderful. Its clean, vibrant, hospitable and family orientated. Without doubt the place to go with a young family if you want a bit on sun, sand and entertainment. I was shocked on our first night ot as the main road closed to vehicles in the evening. We just strolled along taking in the atmosphere, you still have to avoid the numerous cycles though.
There is a distinct lack of night clubs etc but that only adds to the place in my opinion. I an say with all honesty i never saw a single person drunk in the 4 weeks in total we have spent there.
There are lots of attractions, a small Sea World type Shark expo in resort, mesuems, churches, local wine tasting trips, markets and just the sheer beauty of the sourounding area.
All our travel was on public transport. The system is easy to use and very reliable. The location allows you to get to Venice easily. Coach & water bus costs very little and you approach Venice by water - without doubt the best way! we stayed in an apartment in Residence Il Teatro. The rooms and service are first class. There is a pool, jacuzzi, washing and drying facilites and a resteraunt serving fine food.
There are excellent resteraunts everywhere you turn serving wonderful seafood. There are mini theme parks along teh main road where you can enjoy hours of fun with the children.
I can not reccomend Lido De Jesolo enough. Its fantastic. Its more expensive due to the ponud at the moment but, if you want a safe, fun and secure family holiday this is the place.
