Life Interactive World

Advantages: Both educational and fun
Disadvantages: not particularly suitable for younger children

...out at The Centre for Life in Newcastle. This is a 68 million-pound development in the centre of Newcastle on the theme of science and biotechnology. Yhe place has been open for just over a year and this was our second visit. There are several sections to the Centre but the area we visited was the Life Interactive World. This is a visitor attraction which aims to explain the basics of DNA and evolution in a fun and interactive way.

...actors entitled the Secret of Life Show.

The Secret of Life Show is a very humorous, entertaining and slick production which lasts about 10 – 15 minutes and integrates the live acting and audio visual displays superbly, while still getting the message across that the four basic building blocks of DNA are the things that link all life forms together.

My favourite however was the Crazy Motion Ride –a simulator ... more

Advantages: The Crazy Motion Ride and Lots of Things To Do
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit on the expensive side

...of international status which explores life and how it works is taking shape in Newcastle upon Tyne. It brings together science and biotechnology, research and education, entertainment and ethics on a single site. It is the first time anywhere in the world that all these elements have been brought together in one location." Which is much better than I could have put it. The Centre For Life is still not completed but there is a lot to see even now. ...

Is there Life in Newcastle

Advantages: dry and warm on a cold day
Disadvantages: expensive, small

...‘fun –filled’ family day out.. Life is an interactive museum in Newcastle upon Tyne, which we have driven past several times, and today a wet and windy day in the holidays we thought we would visit. So off we went my disabled mother, 10-year-old son, my 16-month old daughter and myself . Getting Parked When we arrived and followed the signs to the car park we were disappointed to find that the only official car park for the museum was a pay and ...
...the car park attendant what facilities were available for the disabled he advised me to drive round the car park and come back and speak to him. My first thought was great he is going to direct me to a disabled parking area near the entrance. No such luck, he said we could either fight for a place in this car park which cost 40p an hour or we could give him £2 and we would be allowed to park outside the museum. This sounded a bit dodgy so I didn’t ...

Yee alreet pet?!

Advantages: Lovely city with lots to do
Disadvantages: Can get very busy

a member of St John Ambulance, I went on duty here. It was the first duty I had been on I thoroughly enjoyed it. When people talk of the Town Moor it is usually because of The Hoppings! ~ The Centre for Life ~ The UK's first Biotechnology Village, the "Centre for Life" is located in the City Centre close to the Central Station. The Centre for Life is a "science village" in the heart of the city. Its purpose is to promote international research into genetics and to help people understand the role of our genes in health and disease. The complex also includes the Life Science Centre, an interactive museum that looks into the origins of life, DNA and the human body. If you are in Newcastle I think this is worth a visit. It is a very entertaining day out, especially for children. There are many school trips in the area which go to the Centre ...

Newcastle

Advantages: The nightlife, the shopping, everything!!
Disadvantages: None!! A weekend prob isnt long enough!

are loads of museums etcx in Newcastle, like the Life Science centre, the Discovery Museum (which is free) the Hancock Museum, and art Galleries like the Baltic(on Gateshead side of the Quayside, just over the millennium bridge, and the Laing (in town), both of which are free. A day just spent wandering alon g the quayside, over the millennium bridge is also recommended. Theres also the Odeon cinema in the Gate. There are also a number of historical places around the city, if you want to do the tourist thing, I'd recommend gettin gthe Newcastle sightseeing bus, form the Quayside, near the millennium bridge, as it takes you round all the main places, and you can get on and off as you wish. PLACES TO EAT The are hundreds of restaurants in Newcastle, there's The Gate (see above) with a choice of restaurants, the Quayside, with some ...
