Hotel Libertador in Lima , Peru
Advantages: Lovely staff - all very helpful Disadvantages: too far from the interesting parts of Lima
The hotel is very small only 56 rooms and is situated next to the golf course and country club.in a residential area. The lobby is very small with a few comfortable seats but was very functional rather than a place where you might sit and chat with friends. There is a side room with a couple of computers offering internet access but there was free wifi access in the rooms as well which was accessed by a code given by the reception staff if you asked. ... ...didn't eat in at the hotel except for breakfasts so I can't comment on the food but I have been told by others who did eat there that the food was good. Breakfasts were very good with the usual fruit juices, fruit, yogurt, cereals, breads and pastries, cold meats and cheeses followed by an array of cooked stuff such as bacon ( nice and crispy) scrambled eggs, fried potato, tomato and so on. Coffee and tea served very quickly and top ups offered regularly. ...

Terrible Service
Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Service
The location of this hotel is good, right downtown, but the rest is well under accepted standards. There is no shampoo in the bathrooms, the included breakfast is basically bread and butter with coffee and we were forced to change rooms in the middle of our stay because they needed to do some urgent water repairs. The entire hotel smells like an antique store and there is no room service. At the very end, they overcharged us. When we confronted the ... ...to refund the money, offering us a credit for a subsequent stay. When we asked to talk to the manager, we were told she only shows up sometimes and does not have a fixed schedule. A very bad experience overall. I would not stay there again, even with a free voucher. ...

A Fumble In The Dark In Lima
Advantages: Clean and adequate Disadvantages: Forgettable, in a business district, frequent power cuts
...Beware, there is another Sonesta Posada del Inca (El Olivar) located a couple of streets away, which is more luxurious and seems to be the member hotel the chain actively push in this area, whilst ignoring the San Isidro. Indeed, one of our taxi drivers didn't even seem to know our hotel existed.
The hotel is wheel-chair friendly in layout.
My stay was part of a package, but room rates including breakfast are roughly:
Single US$68
Double US$82

Holidays at the hotel?
Advantages: Safe place Disadvantages: Nothing to do outside
Lima is not the best place to go on holidays, although some turist companies try to lie on this. This is the case of this hotel and the way they sell the city to foreigners.
Yes, the hotel is nice, safe, it has facilities but only if you want to spend you money and time inside the hotel you are gonna be content. There is not much to do around the city. Miraflores, where the hotel is, is a nice place but people don't socialise very much and everything ... ...of the city.
The hostel is quite cheap (for foreigners) and the people who work there are quite friendly. The services they offer are the basic usual ones. Good hotel and very central but in the wrong place. There is not much to do in the night in this part od Miraflores, you will always need to take a taxi in the night to go back to your hotel. Well, I don't do it because I feel safe but it's reccommended to do so. ...
