limassol is an interesting place to visit. It is located in the republic of Cyprus and it is arguably the best coastal area in Europe. Well at least I think it is amongst them anyway.
getting there
After a four hour air flight from one of London's Airport's to get to one of Cyprus Arrival lounges, getting to limassol is around thirty minutes to an hour travelling time via taxi or rented car.
things to do
The coastal area spans around twelve kilometers which makes swimming
and sunbathing relatively easy to find a place to sit down and enjoy the sun. Also at certain areas of the coastal area. There are diving centres that offer a range of diving services. Some angling is also allowed. The downside to being exposed to the sun and will likely involve needing to purchase sun protection cream/spray along with water, beer.
Along the tourist area of Germasogeia and the Amathous regions of limassol, there are loads of Restaurant's and bars, Coffee shops where people can spend a day, and evening close to the coastal area.
At Internet cafes the cost of using these facilities is relatively high. Following on, hiring a Sun Bed and Sun Chair can be as much as three euro's a day. This is quite high considering as people can not spend a whole day in the Sun.
I also find that Restaurant's are not as good value as they used to be as the prices have gone up in the last few years and the food quantity provided has also gone astray. The mainstream british and american franchised Retail Outlets in Cyprus are over here with the well known names such as debenhams, marks and spencer, Costa coffee etc. The one thing that is not so good is that I have never seen anything on sale discount in limassol. The British high streets are much better in comparison in terms of providing quality goods at variably discounted prices.
Sightseeing is good as people can visit the Keo beer factory and have samples of this brand of beer.
Getting around limassol is difficult if using public transport as there are a few Bus Routes that are difficult to find for tourists.
Hiring a Mercedes Taxi is expensive as the cost of getting from one part of limassol to another costs around ten euros. So in terms of a day out where there are no trains or reliable Bus Services the best advice is to book accomodation in the tourist area and have all the facilities and amenities nearby.
I also find that fast Food Restaurant prices are generally on a level par compared to other Restaurant's. The Service and Standard varies from venue to venue. On a negative note, I have seen many bars in limassol serving bottles of beer to customers which is not as good quality as the British pubs that serve beer from beer taps.
Regarding walking around limassol to be fairly straightforward though it is extremely difficult when the sun's temperature is over thirty five degrees. I also find parked cars on the pavement on limassol's narrow street's to be a bit of a nuissance.
other information
Prices of electronic goods seem to be more expensive than the high street and leading stores in the United kingdom, and therefore it certainly helps to save money if people that visit Cyprus for a lengthy period of time, or decide to work abroad should buy electronic goods that can be exported to the relevant country.
Another thing worth noting is that limassol whilst it is busy seems to have less traffic compared to the Capitol of Cyprus which is nicosia. Also whilst the Capitol which is the largest city in Cyprus, limassol seemingly has more desirable areas and generally more activities available.
conclusion
Whilst I would thoroughly recommend the coastal area in limassol to anybody that asked, I would have reservations in recommending good Restaurant's or take away places. The public transport System is poor, the sightseeing is quite good overall. These days, flights to and from the United kingdom to either larnaca or paphos have come down in price making it more cost effective.
All in all a very good coastal sun Experience.

Good review. The bit about the euro and the pound was a good idea and interesting! Although now the pound against the euro is £1.02= 1 euro! some places are accepting pounds as euros or euros as pounds!

It's not a place I've been to (I'm shockingly under-travelled!!) but I think I'd be highly miffed if I saw a Debenhams and M&S on the high street but I suppose the glorious weather compensates!

Advantages: Great base for visiting the tourist sites. Has a fantastic waterpark Disadvantages: Not really a disadvantage but more like a city in parts than an actual tourist resort
