Advantages: Absolutely Gorgeous Food! Disadvantages: Not good for young children
Lada's Famous Fish Tavern is in the Tourist area of Limassol. It is almost opposite the Pirate's Waterpark. They sell fish by weight and you choose from the refrigerated section and they cook it for you. It costs £11 each for a normal MEZE, £29 per kilo for fish and £39 per kilo of prawns, crayfish or lobster. I had 2 king prawns and the sauce was delicious and they serve you appetizers and dips at the beginning. The cost £10.42 but this included ... ...were £17 ll together and that was very reasonable as the food was all freshly caught that morning and everything is of a very high quality. The beach setting is lovely. The only downside was that the high chairs are quite dangerous. There was a family on another table and the high chair was clamped to the table and then the back of it leans against the normal chair. At one time it collapsed and the child was not very happy at all. She recovered and ...

Advantages: Good touring base, plenty to do Disadvantages: Busy town with heavy traffic
..., with the "tourist area" lying to the east. The west end is busy and bustling with the comings and goings of daily city life, whilst the east end is dominated by modern hotels, apartments, restaurants and bars. The distance from one end of Limassol to the other means it is not really practical to walk between the two.

**Weather**
Given its location in the Middle East, it's not surprising that Limassol has a hot and sunny climate through much of the year. When I was there in late October and early November the daytime temperature was around 30 degrees Celsius with unbroken sunshine and it was warm enough to go out at night without any heavy clothes. It can be much cooler at that time of year though and I was told it was unusually warm. There can be heavy rain during the winter.

Advantages: Great base for visiting the tourist sites. Has a fantastic waterpark Disadvantages: Not really a disadvantage but more like a city in parts than an actual tourist resort
...Although I'd been through Limassol the last couple of times I visited Cyprus I'd never stayed there for a holiday. I have to be honest and say that it doesn't really compare with the beauty of Paphos or Protaras but I liked it anyway. Limassol (called Lemessos by the Cypriots) is the second largest town in Cyprus so, although there are a lot of nice bars, clubs and restaurants for the tourist it is principally a big, busy town with a large fishing docks where you can board luxury liners for short breaks to Egypt, Israel, and the Lebanon at very reasonable prices.
Colin and I had decided that we would spend most of our time diving during this holiday and we intended visiting the wreck of the Zenobia which was only an hour's journey away in the town of Larnaca. Anyway, that’s another opinion.

Advantages: something for all the family Disadvantages: about an hour from larnaca/paphos airports
...and parasols for around £1.50. (The cypriot currency is cypriot pounds).
On the official tourist beach which is by Dasoudi wood you will find (as the name suggests!) many trees and therefore you can find your own shade for free!
There are many restaurants in Limassol which offer set meals. Do not be afraid to shop around but you will get stopped in the street by the restaurant owners trying to get you in, which is fine if you don't really mind where you eat! Try the classic Moussaka (aubergine, minced lamb, potatoes and bechamel sauce) for a real treat or one of their other specialities Kleftiko(leg of lamb) or stifado (lumps of beef in a kind of stew) and I would hope you wouldn't be disappointed.
There is also a chinese restaurant along the tourist main strip and English restaurants serving burgers and fish and chips.
Try the Tourist Office...
