I visited Lincoln Christmas market for the first time this year and would highly recommend it to anyone. I suppose it depends whereabouts you live, but certainly the markets in my home area (North East England) are all very samey, the same stalls selling the same old tat!
Lincoln Christmas market was very different and I thought it had a wonderful Christmas atmosphere (or was that due to the mulled wine being sold every few stalls??)There were real reindeer, lots of craft stalls and stalls selling local and European produce, and all set against the beautiful backdrop of the Cathedral.
Everybody was very festive and despite the cold and the rain everybody was in good spirits and seemed to have a good time.A word of warning to anyone less mobile, you do have to climb some steep inclines but again if you get dropped off by taxi the official drop off point is at the TOP of the hill (bonus) and you can make your way down. The market runs into the city centre shops and there are plenty of bars and restaurants around (although most of our party had managed plenty of food and drink around the market!)
All in all a very good day out (or weekend away as we made of it) and definitely worth a visit if you fancy something a bit different with good Christmas atmosphere.
