...The SAS Radisson hotel in Dusseldorf is one of the city's premier hotels. The hotel is located an Golzheimer Platz half way between the city centre and the Messe, or exhibition hall. The hotel is also conveniently located on the tram line which makes access to the convention centre and the city very easy. It is only a fifteen minute taxi drive from the airport. The hotel boasts two restaurants as well as a swimming pool and well equipped gym, for those who want to make use of the facilities. The prices are relatively high, particularly at fair time, and at this time the rooms are almost impossible to get, so book very early....

Advantages: professional elegant great service Disadvantages: a bit far from center but excellent public transport
...I stayed there recently with my husband. Its a three star hotel but as often with german hotels the level of quality is usually a star higher. Its in the north I would say about halfway between the center and the airport. We had our car so it was easy to drive to the cener. Although parking is difficult to find. the hotel has its own underground parking which cost a few pounds a night. The hotel is efficiently run and the staff are very professional. They gave us loads of free brochures and one even drew me a map! the rooms are spacious and clean with very fast room service. Also the bathrooms are very impressive! althought the minibar is to be avoided very expensive. In the morning we had an amazing buffet, theres no need to eat lunch after. If you dont mind not being in the center then this is the perfect hotel!! Plus dusseldorf is one...

Advantages: Great food, beer and friendly helpful people Disadvantages: Weeze airport is miles away - closer to Holland!

While the cheaper hotels may be slightly out of the town centre, the public transport system is cheap, efficient and clean, with trams every 10minutes, so getting the troops in and out to the many pubs and bars is not a problem. The main area to go is the Altstadt found by the Rhine, where more bars than I've ever seen in one area before can be found, many of which stay open til the early hours and serve tons of different beers at a reasonable price (2E for 330mL). The city itself is very clean and pleasant, the people friendly and incredibly helpful, while the Altstadt also seems to be the main area for German hen parties to go out (we ran into six separate lots!), so there is no shortage of fine frauleins out...

When we booked our holiday to a cabin Norway I made a fundamental error and miscalculated the time it would take to get from Oslo Gardemeon airport to the fjord area of Norway. With a distance of 293km (182 miles) I thought that we could easily cover the more
A flight from Gatwick - the only option for our recent holiday to Bermuda - meant we needed one night's accommodation near to the airport itself, to ensure we had no hold ups on the morning. As we would also need 12 nights parking I scoured the internet more
