We stayed at The Lindos Gardens Hotel/Complex in Lindos In June 2005. Which is approximately 10/15 minutes walk down a fairly steep hill to Lindos town and (depending on who you're with and their walking abilities) about 20/25 minutes walk back up the hill from Lindos Town. (I advise that people with walking difficulties or Asthma problems may want to avoind this destination.

Lindos town is like something you'd find on a picture postcard. Lots of narrow streets, teaming on either side with various kinds of shops. From supermarkets, bars, crepe bars (try the Sugar/Baileys Crepe they're gorgeous), travel agency offices and offices that arrange boat tours, car hire and currency exchange as well as restaurants of most varieties.

Also you'll find that there's plenty of nightlife although I never went clubbing myself from what I can gather it does die down fairly early I'm unsure what time though.

So if we were walking from our Hotel we'd come out on what can only be described as a fairly busy interchange on the main road from Lindos to Faliraki and Rhodes Town, (rather like a large square). Here you'll find numerous buses which will take you to any number of places on the Island. Across the road/square from the bus stops is a kiosk from which you buy your tickets for the destination you wish to go to by bus. The kiosk is among a couple of supermarkets, which are very well priced. For example, at our hotel it'd cost 1 Euro for 500ml of mineral water, but at these supermarkets it was 1.5 Euros for 2 litres. Also, close to these supermarkets is a restaurant/eatery where we ate on our first morning there. The food is nice but I wouldn't recommend having a full english though, since when does a full english contain frankfurter sausages?

Three of us took a day trip to Rhodes and found the price quite reasonable (to be honest I don't remember how much it cost, but I don't think it was much more than 2 Euros each (one way)). We caught the bus at this interchange.

If you cross over at the interchange which, is situated right at the top of the hill which leads you into Lindos town, be careful not to walk into the path of an oncoming car as you make your way down the hill.

Along the way you'll pass a couple of restaurants (which we avoided because their menu prices were a bit extortionate).

At the bottom of the hill you come into the Main Square.

If you take an Immediate left turn you can follow a road to the beach. It's not as steep as the road leading into Lindos Town but it will take you a little longer to get to the beach.

Once close to the beach you can take a short cut through a restaurant which will take you straight onto the beach where you'll find a wooden footpath. At this end of the beach you'll find two restaurants (one you just took a shortcut through) and another called Panos (where we had many full english breakfasts).

An alternative route to the beach is to take a right turn about 100 yards (as you head down the road that leads you to the beach).

Along the way down the main beach road you'll find a supermarket an ice-cream parlour (there ice-creams are to die for) and a restaurant called Oasis (which is linked to the ice-cream parlour). You'll find you go past signposts for Kleobolous Tomb as you head to the beach. I've been told although never confirmed that there is a secluded beach near to Kleobolous' Tomb that can be used for nude batheing.

Also, when you're in the main square you'll see that there is a taxi rank, also a bus service (which is free of charge) and simply takes you to the top of the hill (to the interchange).

You'll also see a cashpoint (ATM) and a couple of payphones.

There is another cashpoint within the village aswell.

From the main square you'll see a postcard/postage shop. A pizza place called 'Casa Della Pizza' where they sell, not only pizza, but freshly squeezed juice. Above this is a restaurant called Mythos. Where we ate quite a few times and had our wedding meal. (Yes, I got Married in Rhodes at St. Pauls Bay, but I'll get to that).

There is one street which leads off the main square, this leads you past where the Lindos Taxis (Donkeys) are fed and watered. This street will take you past numerous shops etc. (As I mentioned earlier).

However, if you want to get a real taste of what Lindos is like, then wander off the beaten track (as I did on many occasions) you'll find places that (most likely) most tourists and travel reps wouldn't be able to tell you about.

The highlight of the Holiday for me was getting Married (as I said, at St. Pauls Bay). Without boring you and going in-depth about it (as I have been doing so far) I'll just say that (in my opinion) this was the best decision ever made. Usually with weddings, you have to cater for family members or friends who you wouldn't see unless there was a special occasion, but, by marrying abroad the people who are there, are the people who want to be there and they're not there for the free food or as an excuse to get drunk.

St. Pauls Bay is absolutely gorgeous, there is a little white-washed chapel (which you get married in front of unless you're Greek Orthodox the you can get married inside) which is set just above the sea and a few minutes walk from the St. Pauls Bay beach. It's a little off the beaten tourist track but still an Idyllic setting, peaceful and set nicely in a little bay, 5 minutes walk from Lindos Town.

While staying in Lindos, I did the typical tourist thing and went up to the Acropolis. This was totally unbeleivable, the heat was almost too much for me. As I'm not too keen on Donkeys I walked up there (with my New Father-In-law). After soaking in some culture and history, we walked back down and needed a drink however, the booth that was close to the Acropolis wanted 3 Euros for a 500ml bottle of water. We decided that we'd manage the 5 minute walk without and have a drink at the bottom.

When we got there, we stopped in The Sunburnt Arms pub and treated ourselves I had Bud and the Father-In-Law Guiness, the total price was about 7 Euros, but totally worth it as the drinks were icey-icey cold.

There is a second beach below the Acropolis, however I never went to this 2nd beach, so I'm unable to tell you anything about it, my apologies.

That concludes my review but here are a few minor details:

Prices of meals are very very reasonable, obviously this depends on where you go, my personal favourite places to eat were: Mytos, Dionysos, Stefanys Taverna, Panos Restaurant (on the beach).

Always buy your bottled water/alcohol from a supermarket.

And if you're a smoker (as I am) may I suggest that you try there own tobacco products. I smoked Mayfair S/K usually but I found a brand called Leader (Red). These were equally as nice as my usual brand and much cheaper to boot.

I have plenty of pictures and video footage should you require them.

If there's anything you feel that I may have missed out or not touched on then feel free to message me and I'll answer your quieries as best I can.
