Advantages: easy to park (lion yard car park) Disadvantages: not enough designer outlets for people like me

Lion Yard has just been given a face lift to attempt to bring it out of the concrete block 60's era. It is now a modern looking shopping complex that gives a pleasant shopping atmosphere and protection from the elements thanks to its large roofing area.

If visiting Cambridge city centre for the first time, there are shops in every direction, be sure to explore every little street and alley way, because you might just miss something good! There is also always plenty of entertainment going on in the city centre, from Buskers (which are very talented) to clowns.
If feeling a little peckish, there are so many cafes and restaurants to choose from, plus the departmental restaurants that you will be spoilt for choice, I can really recommend Henry's by the river for a quiet bite in luxury surroundings (if you don't mind the price!)
Cambridge city centre has a very good selection of shops for the more commercial shopper, with an M&S, Woolies, Robert Sayles / John Lewis, Burtons, and Top Shop, you will be laughing all the way. However if designer outlets are more your choice, there is a far smaller community of underground designer wear places for the size of the city, however naming a few, there is Dogfish, Cult Clothing, and Fcuk.
My suggestion; Cambridge is very picturesque and there is much more to see in the city centre than just shops, architecture and university gardens are all open to the public. If passing by the town, don't drive right by, pop in for a look around!
Advantages: Very modern, good selection of shops, recently refurbished Disadvantages: Parking is quite expensive (but can use Park and Ride service)
The Lion Yard shopping center has now been transformed into the 'Grand Arcade'. After renovation work for some time, the new shopping center opened last year, and has been really popular. Whereas the Lion Yard shopping center was somewhat out-dated and lacking in good shops, the Grand Arcade has been built to a very high specification, with marble-effect floors and walls. It is now much larger than the original shopping center, and has welcomed a ... ...In my opinion, the Lion Yard shopping centre has been completely transformed with the opening of the Grand Arcade. It has a really modern feel and a good atmosphere. It connects to the car park, which means there is good access, and there are cafes located within for refreshments. Despite the close proximity of the car park, it is worth bearing in mind the traffic in Cambridge. The Park and Ride service also stops just outside the Grand Arcade and ...

The Lion Yard sits bang in the middle of Cambridge city centre. It can be a nightmare doing battle with the traffic, especially Saturdays, i find Sunday a much better day to visit and its always far easier to park on a Sunday. Talking of parking try to avoid the Lion Yard car park if possible. They have been doing revamping work there for some time and it is CHAOS. Far better to park in the Queen Anne, you have to drive right past ... ...are far cheaper than the Lion Yard where you can expect to pay upto £25 for a day's parking at peak times.
Once in the Lion Yard you are treated to a wide variety of shops, ranging from Sports World to Karen Millen. There is something for everyone - music, fashion, phones, accessories, games etc, as well as cheap book and art shops. Its worth exploring all streets as you are bound to find something you didn't expect.
The market is a real treasure,as ...
