The Lion Yard shopping center has now been transformed into the 'Grand Arcade'. After renovation work for some time, the new shopping center opened last year, and has been really popular. Whereas the Lion Yard shopping center was somewhat out-dated and lacking in good shops, the Grand Arcade has been built to a very high specification, with marble-effect floors and walls. It is now much larger than the original shopping center, and has welcomed a host of new shops, both high-street (TopShop, River Island, etc) and designer (Hugo Boss, etc). There are various stores catering for all needs, and compliment the shops located in the streets in Cambridge city centre, and also in the other shopping center, the Grafton Centre. The shops are all quite a good size.

In my opinion, the Lion Yard shopping centre has been completely transformed with the opening of the Grand Arcade. It has a really modern feel and a good atmosphere. It connects to the car park, which means there is good access, and there are cafes located within for refreshments. Despite the close proximity of the car park, it is worth bearing in mind the traffic in Cambridge. The Park and Ride service also stops just outside the Grand Arcade and is a good (and cheap) alternative to parking. The Grand Arcade is definitely worth a visit, and has really improved the quality of shopping in Cambridge.
