For football lovers! Great Stadium!
Advantages: The tour is amazing! Disadvantages: not having a ball while in the pitch...
The "Estádio da Luz" it's the home stadium of the Portuguese football giants SL Benfica. Opened in October 25th 2003, this stadium is the result of a troubled period in the club's life. It's construction involved many argues and debate, since it implicated the demolition of the old mythic stadium with the same name, where different generations of Benfica supporters lived unforgettable moments among crowds up to 120,000 people!
The ground where the ... ...and for many Benfica fans this stadium is the modern reincarnation of the old one. With 65,000 covered seats, this facility offers to the football fans enormous comfort with plenty of leisure places. Estádio da Luz has all that it takes to host finals of UEFA's club competitions. Two giant screens, 156 company boxes, 55 bars, two panoramic restaurants, a business centre, a company centre, two health clubs, special areas for the disabled, and a VIP ...

The Colombo Centre, Lisbon's Trafford Centre
Advantages: Very clean and plenty of variety. Disadvantages: Approximately 15 minutes outside the City Centre.
The Colombo Shopping Centre is located on the Avenida General Norton de Matos, Benfica, Lisbon. It is accessible by both metro and bus, and just a short taxi ride from Lisbon’s city centre.
Opened in 1997, the Colombo Centre is Lisbon's newest mall, being the largest in the Iberian Peninsula. As well as a shopping centre, it also houses a leisure complex, with a multiplex cinema, health club, driving range, and bowling alley to name a few. ... ...can also obtain oriental and European cuisine. Those just looking for a cup of coffee and a pastry or sandwich, are also well catered for.
For anyone visiting Lisbon, I would highly recommend taking the short taxi drive out to the Colombo Shopping Centre, even just for a browse. ...

Cascais Shopping...better go to Lisboa!
Advantages: Handy for Cascais Disadvantages: Not pushchair friendly, limited choice
The big brother to Cascais centre's Cascais Villa, this shopping centre is located about 15 min. to the North of the town centre - expect to pay about 6 euro if you're taking a taxi from the station. It's got a reasonable range of stores, with a large Continente supermarket , FNAC, Zara & Zara Home, Area, Toys R Us and various clothes / gifts / homeware shops, plus restaurants,on site. However, parents of babies & toddlers be warned : it's quite ... ...have to negotiate loads of steps to cross the main road.
I would recommend a trip to one of the central Lisbon malls if you really want to shop 'til you drop - Cascais Shopping is too limited in range and frustrating to get around to win my vote. ...

Discover the Golden Age of Bethlehem
Advantages: An area filled with beauty, history and is very laid back Disadvantages: None
Belem is an area that lies at the western end of Greater Lisbon and it is not to be confused with the city in Northern Brazil although they bare the same. In Portuguese the name Belem means Bethlehem and sometimes the area used to be known as Santa Maria de Belem. Along with the Alfama, Belem is another favourite area of Lisbon I like to spend time in. Apart from it's very laid back atmosphere the area is filled with monuments, museums, cafes and ... ...by side while dogs run riot and frisbees fly high into the dappled blue sky. It is here where you experience the feelings of a golden time when caravelas sailed from the mouth of the River Tagus to the New World and returned ladened with jewels, spices and silks. There is an attractive cafe scene in Belem but I suggest before you get involved with that scene you have a good look at the architecture, monuments and parks in the area. Here are some ...

Welcome to the Crystal Maze A.K.A Lisbon AIrport
Advantages: Best descent into an airport I've ever had Disadvantages: Long queues, finicky passport control
...I had to travel to Lisbon for a few days business, a journey that required me travelling through Lisbon airport. For those of you who have read some of my previous reviews you will have seen that, for myself, the quality of the airport can make or ruin the start or end of a trip and Lisbon was no different.
We flew in to the city on an evening flight with easyJet from London Luton, arriving at about 21:00. Due to its location, quite close to the ... ...really enjoyed the city of Lisbon and will probably want to go back there at some point in the future. My arrival was pleasant enough that I was in a good mood when I got there but the length of time taken when leaving left a slightly sour taste. As is usually the case, if you are visiting Lisbon then you will have to go through this airport (until 2017 when a new airport to serve the city is planned to open 50km from the city centre) but be prepared ...
