The Red Coats!
Advantages: Easy to get into the centre, but quiet. Disadvantages: No swimming pool or outside area to relax.
...Our choice was the Real Parque., described as being comfortable and well located in a small residential area and also conveniently close to the heart of the City.A 4 star hotel. Two minutes walk will take a guest to the renowned Store "Corte Inglesa", which is beside the underground and the Eduardo VII Park and its "Estufa Fria" (Biological Gardens). A further ten minutes walk will bring the visitor to the fascinating collections to be found in the ... ...two restaurants, the Cozinha do Real and another which doubled as a coffee shop. It had the most wonderful selection of cakes! plus snacks and also served meals in the evening. We were slightly disappointed on going downstairs, to find that the dining room was expecting a large coach party, and a buffet was set out for them, but the MaitreD, soon accommodated us and we were well looked after. The menu was excellent, I tried a Melon soup with crispy ...

Lisbon paradise
Advantages: Close to airport, city centre Disadvantages: Small lifts
...an amazing stay at the Holiday Inn Continental, Lisbon which is centrally located between Av. República/Av. Berna and is just 10 minutes away from Lisbon International Airport and walking distance from Campo Pequeno subway station, Entrecampos train station and main public buses busstop. At £65 a night inclusive of breakfast, this was a bargain which we could not pass up!
From the outside the hotel is visually appealing with an elliptical glass ... ...sofas, bar and has over 200 rooms. The lobby appeared to have a gorgeous marble floor, with a modern decor. The staff speaks a variety of language including English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and were quite friendly offering us travel advice before we even asked! We were checked in very quickly and were offered porterage services. Our room was very large and airy, with a queen sized bed and double glazed windows making it nearly soundproof. ...

A conveniently located hotel at reasonable rates
Advantages: Location, food, waiter service Disadvantages: Atmosphere, concerns about luggage being tampered with
Stayed at this hotel for five nights, it is situated close to an underground station which is only a few stops from central Lisbon. From outside it has a modern look about it & the rooms were reasonably modern, clean & well equipped. There is good views of a local park from some of the rooms & ample shops & restaurants close by. The restaurant within the hotel served decent breakfast food & excellent meals in the evening, waiter service was first ... ...drinks but the atmosphere & decor was poor. The combination lock on our suitcases was tampered with twice from what I suspect was the room cleaning staff, it was reported to hotel managment & we were swiftly transferred to another room but never received an apology, explaination or rate reduction. ...

My honeymoon in Lisbon!
Advantages: Very comfortable hotel Disadvantages: not central, but not far off
BACKGROUND
We surprised everyone by announcing we were getting married in six weeks time and 200 miles from home (Cornwall). Unfortunately we had already booked time off for our summer holiday, (the wedding was a surprise for us as well - no I'm not pregnant!) so we ended up getting married one Saturday, and my new hubby had to be back at work the following Saturday. Not much time for a honeymoon then. We trawled the internet with only the criteria ... ...been before, somewhere which would be sunny, and not terribly expensive! We started looking at the Isle of Wight, and ended up going to Lisbon…
THE HOTEL
The hotel was built in 2005 and has four stars. There are wooden floors throughout and it is very modern and stylish. It very much reminded me of "after" on a TV makeover programme, lots of wood, glass and chrome.
It's very environmentally friendly, with lights (and piped music!) which are activated ...

Modern Hotel with Old World Service
Advantages: Wonderful Hotel and Food/Service; close to trains and busses, smoking rooms available Disadvantages: Difficult to find from Airport
...We stayed at the Villa Rica Lisboa Hotel in Portugal about 2 weeks ago. It is a lovely, modern hotel near the center of busy Lisbon (if you can find a real center in that large, sprawling city!). Finding the hotel was a little difficult at night. We had asked directions from the Car Rental agency, but also had to ask from several pedestrians. The one who gave us the best and final directions was a young man who seemed to be a bit drunk or stoned ... ...to find again. But once we found it, we discovered that we were only around the corner from the underground train station..which is very cheap and very efficient.
PARKING
Luckily there is a free, very clean and well-lighted underground parking structure, which you enter directly next to the front door of the hotel. They also have a parking attendant on duty 24 hours a day, which gives you a sense of safety in a strange city.
LOBBY
As you enter ...
