A conveniently located hotel at reasonable rates
Advantages: Location, food, waiter service Disadvantages: Atmosphere, concerns about luggage being tampered with
Stayed at this hotel for five nights, it is situated close to an underground station which is only a few stops from central Lisbon. From outside it has a modern look about it & the rooms were reasonably modern, clean & well equipped. There is good views of a local park from some of the rooms & ample shops & restaurants close by. The restaurant within the hotel served decent breakfast food & excellent meals in the evening, waiter service was first ... ...drinks but the atmosphere & decor was poor. The combination lock on our suitcases was tampered with twice from what I suspect was the room cleaning staff, it was reported to hotel managment & we were swiftly transferred to another room but never received an apology, explaination or rate reduction. ...

My honeymoon in Lisbon!
Advantages: Very comfortable hotel Disadvantages: not central, but not far off
BACKGROUND
We surprised everyone by announcing we were getting married in six weeks time and 200 miles from home (Cornwall). Unfortunately we had already booked time off for our summer holiday, (the wedding was a surprise for us as well - no I'm not pregnant!) so we ended up getting married one Saturday, and my new hubby had to be back at work the following Saturday. Not much time for a honeymoon then. We trawled the internet with only the criteria ... ...been before, somewhere which would be sunny, and not terribly expensive! We started looking at the Isle of Wight, and ended up going to Lisbon…
THE HOTEL
The hotel was built in 2005 and has four stars. There are wooden floors throughout and it is very modern and stylish. It very much reminded me of "after" on a TV makeover programme, lots of wood, glass and chrome.
It's very environmentally friendly, with lights (and piped music!) which are activated ...

A Contemporary Hotel Near to a Beautiful Monastery
Advantages: Well situated - close to famous attraction and good transport links Disadvantages: A bit pricey
Jeronimos 8 is one of the most contemporary hotels I have come across in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. It has a real 'designer' feel to the establishment and makes a refreshing change from the heavy wood furniture and long draped curtains that you come across quite a lot in Portugal. The hotel is well connected by tram, bus and train to the city centre. To save on costs whilst travelling to and from the hotel I suggest you purchase a Sete Colinas ... ...Manueline pieces of architecture - Jeronimos Monastery is only 200 metres from the hotel. Torre de Belem and the Monument of the Discoveries are a walk away at 1.5 kilometres and the Cultural Centre of Belem is about 500 metres away. Booking is very straightforward and can easily be done on line. It is just a case of choosing dates and stating the kind of room you prefer and the number of people staying. You can either pay a deposit or the whole ...

not so good if there is a problem
Advantages: cheap basic rooms, central location for Placa Commercial and tram 28 Disadvantages: en-suite rooms are not worth 70 euros when you actually get better facilities for 45 euros
...rooms and shared facilities, this pensao is a good deal - doesn't seem to me like it's worth paying any more and raising expectations. *I have ticked that I wouldn't recommend this place because of the manager's attitude to our concerns with the room - guarding profits rather than seeking to address our concerns with the quality of the accommodation. I would rather direct friends to places where there is a genuine concern for customer service. ...

Hotel Roma - Lisbon
Advantages: The buffet breakfast was quite good Disadvantages: Unfortunately, lots!
...taxi. I found that Roma was not the most upmarket of areas and as I was travelling alone felt rather nervous. The lobby to the hotel looks quite impressive and the staff are well turned out, but I did not find them particularly friendly. My room was pretty basic and very cold - no carpet and the heater did not work. Also, the view from the window looked down upon the dreary, grey back entrance to the hotel and other nearby retail premises. I also ... ...often open! There is a bar and restaurant, though I was not especially impressed with my evening meal - soup is very popular in Portugal. On the plus side, my accommodation included breakfast and this was a good, 'eat as much as you want' buffet affair. Internet access is available in the lobby. There are some small shops nearby, but these really equate to local shops in England. There is a underground station not too far up the road and I was brave ...
