Questionable 3* Hotel

Advantages: 10 minute walk to old town
Disadvantages: Building site. No customer service

...just returned (27/5/06) from this hotel and were very disappointed in it. The hotel is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and is more like a building site. There is no footpath outside of the hotel which is situated on a busy road. A few very uneven slabs are placed from where taxis, buses etc. drop you off. At the hotel we had a renovated room, whilst it was light, modern and reasonably clean on arrival, it did not contain a wardrobe, shelves ...
...paper). This hotel is only interested in over night stays mainly by coach parties. For two days of our stay there was no hot water in the hotel without any explanation or apology. The majority of the staff in the hotel appear to have graduated from the KGB charm school. (Perhaps they are tired of complaints). At the present time there is not adequate space in the dining room, which is a converted sitting area by the staircase of the 4th floor that ...

Cheap Chain Hotel in Lithuanian capital

Advantages: Cheap modern hotel with English speaking staff
Disadvantages: Food was not great, no excercise facilities, bit homogenous

The Scandic chain of hotels is owned by the Hilton Group and as such the Scandic Neringa is a modern standard hotel in Lithuania's capital Vilnius. The hotel is much like any other in the Hilton chain, with a few minor 'twists'. There is no gym, no swimming pool, but there is a sauna. The sauna is on the top floor and is free for guests. Apparently it is fairly common practice to have a 'massage' in the sauna. Yes one of those massages. Not one ...
...hotel has 60 rooms and is located in the centre of the business district. I can't say what all the hotel rooms were like, I only stayed in one. This was a global standard room, nice bathroom, mini bar, TV with English channels and twin beds. It was clean and equipped so that it could have been almost any 3* hotel anywhere in the world. I was there in the recent cold spell, and the room was very very cold, so much so that I had to use an electic ...

Never stay at Mikotel-They steal your money!

Advantages: No One!
Disadvantages: Charging paymeny for rooms that are already paid for.

The personnel working here provide bad service. I asked for a pizza delivery to my room, and they said that such a thing doesn't exist in Vilnius! Twenty-five minutes later I got food delivered to my room using the Vilnius guide. The woman in the reception, a black-haired chubby girl even charge you for the night you already paid for if you don't ask for a receipt. I hate this place. It's near a railway station full of criminals and prostitutes. ...

A cultural experience

Advantages: Central yet quiet location, beautifully renovated building, stylish accommodation
Disadvantages: More expensive than other hotels in Vilnius - but worth it!

...a very pleasant surprise. The Shakespeare Boutique Hotel was also the perfect place to dispel any misplaced notions I may have had about the standard of accommodation in this Baltic capital. Hidden away in a quiet side street just off the main tourist drag, and only two minutes' walk from the main square and the cathedral, the Shakespeare is perfectly placed for exploring the city centre on foot. The street itself (Bernardinu gatve) is only accessible ...
...before it opened as the Shakespeare Boutique Hotel in 1999. The staff are courteous and friendly and all speak English, so the language barrier is no problem here. Once checked in, you will be accompanied to your room by a member of staff, who shows you all the facilities and explains one of the main features of this hotel: there are no room numbers. Instead, the rooms are named after famous literary figures, such as James Joyce, Thomas Hardy and ...
