Last summer I spent a few days in Salcombe after my Mum had booked this place as a birthday present for me. It was my first time in Salcombe so I didn't really know what to expect, but my Mum had been going there for years so I was looking forward to discovering it. The Ria View is run by Peter & Bernice Henesey Smith.
LOCATION:
The Ria View is on Devon Road in Salcombe, Devon. Salcombe is a tiny town on the south coast. The roads to get there are quite windy so take care.

Advantages: Touching, romantic and a story of childhood Disadvantages: none
In my opinion this box set is a must see for any little girl and her mother as it truly is a very delightful story. It is based on the books by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
It is about an orphan, Anne who goes to live in Green Gables, Avonlea, on Prince Edward island with an old lady and her brother. Anne is played terrificly well by the Canadian actress Megan Follows and has the well renound actress Colleen Dewhurst as Marilla Cutherbert. The films basically follow Anne as she grows up and all the trials and tribulations of being an orphan, having to act politely in grown up situations and the fact that she does not like her red hair!
As the story progresses and it moves on in time it also follows the love story between her and Gilbert Blythe.
It is set in a truly wonderful time, of innocence and will really make you teary eyed in places ...
Advantages: Cosy, friendly staff, excellent facilities Disadvantages: Not the cheapest B&B in the Lake District
When we decided to go to Ambleside for a few nights we originally planned to go camping, as our trip approached we were a bit unsure about how good the weather would be and at the last moment did a search for a cheap B&B. The Old Vicarage at Ambleside wasn't the cheapest of the B&Bs we found in our search, however it definitely stood out as somewhere we both wanted to stay. Arriving in Ambelside we were pleased to discover the B&B wasn't slap bang in the middle of this busy, bustling tourist destination. While we did need to drive through the centre the B&B itself was down a quieter road which was ideal for us. The car park itself was fairly compact and not ...
