Advantages: Good food, well priced. Nice atmosphere, too. Disadvantages: The axing of Chocolate Rainforest!
...Walking into Frankie & Benny's is like taking a trip back in time to LittleItaly, New York in the 1950's. Traditional furniture, classic swingy 1950's music (Tony Bennet, Dean Martin, Fats Domino) and old photos on every wall. And the food ain't bad, either!
I'm not normally one for "chain" restaurants, but Frankie & Benny's is in a different class to the usual offering. The choice of dishes is really good -Italian/American food with something to tempt just about anyone. My favourite main course (at the moment) is Lemon & Lime Chicken, but there's everything from traditional Italian pasta and pizza to steak or fish. There's a good selection of starters, and desserts to die for! Although they've recently removed my favourite pud (Chocolate Rainforest - heaven!) from the menu much to my disappointment.
If you fancy something a bit...

Advantages: Very exciting and cheap Disadvantages: Dirty, noisy and busy
...We booked a cheap flight and apartment online and arrived in New York late at night in the middle of a very cold November.
We were strongly advised to only use a yellow cab, however we were confronted several times by casual taxi drivers but stood our ground.
We stayed in LittleItaly, a little off the beaten track, but ideal to reach other parts of NewYork. The highlights of the trip were the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and Macy's store. Not for the feint-hearted, floor after floor of clothing, kitchen items, you name it - well worth saving up for.
The food was a little disappointing; however next time we will explore Greenwich Village and other parts of the city....

Advantages: Hey, it's NYC, haven't you heard of it? Disadvantages: Actually I would not want to live there!
...fish while viewing the Brooklyn Bridge makes a wonderful atmosphere for dinner.
4. Chinatown / LittleItaly – Talking about shopping, there is a place you should not miss in NYC. Sure, New York is famous for Bloomingdale’s, Macey’s and Fifth Avenue, but I would not underestimate the fun of a shopping tour through Chinatown or LittleItaly!
5. United Nations Headquarter – NewYork’s most important political place is our destination for the afternoon. Unfortunately it is not possible to visit the Assembley Hall, but there too is an excellent visitors centre with an own post office selling the unique UN-stamps! It’s a big thing for all American New York tourists, and I am sure the political interested European will enjoy too!
6. Dinner Cruise – It’s getting evening, so we are heading...

...It's the Manhattan expert here again. ok If you are in the know at all the only cafe to go to in Manhattan is Cafe Gitane. Located in the heart of LittleItaly Nolita, the trendiest neighborhood in NYC on the corner of Mulberry and Prince street you can't miss it. If you want to hang with models, popstars and media glitterati it's the place tobe. I won't drop too many names here but expect to see people like Moby hanging outside, it's even ok to have a little chat with him if you feel like it. Open about ten unil midnight, the food is great , very chaep and if you are on a budget just have a coffee or tea and hang out with the local skateboarders from KIDS . But don't tell any uncool people about it..it's an industry secret..I guarantee you'll have a fantastic time, and a great cup of coffee..oh by the way the waitresses are unbeliveably...

...The Thomson Sixty is a relatively new "boutique" hotel in Soho NewYork. Location wise it is excellent, ten minutes walk away from the nearest subway, 5 minutes walk to the stylish Soho shops and excellent restaurants and bars around. Both LittleItaly and Chinatown are in walking distance.
I stayed there with three friends and the hotel said we could all stay in one room. We thought this was great as it would cut down our costs, however the room was not very big and the beds were only doubles. Every other hotel I have stayed in in the US have had Queen or Kingsize beds.
The other problem with the hotel was the heat. It was winter so the bar conditioning had been turned off but you had no control of the heating in the bedroom. We had to leave the windows open all day and at night had to shut the window due to New York noise...

Advantages: Ease of Navigation, Shopping, Doughnuts and Coffee early in the morning Disadvantages: Can be expensive
...we weren't going to leave a tip, we had a superb time the highlights I think being the night time trips into China Town and LittleItaly and the very early morning walks through Manhattan with empty streets looking to get doughnuts and a coffee so we could walk up to central park before watching the city come alive.
Absolutely great City and for the whole trip (6 months) only Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon came close in terms of sheer impact....

If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
