Was 'satisfaction guaranteed' on this Magical Mystery Tour?
Advantages: A brief insight into the home city of the Fab Four Disadvantages: A little rushed; it wasn't as interesting or as inviting as I was hoping it would be
...– buys a ticket for the Magical Mystery Tour, they know what to expect; we guarantee them a trip of a lifetime, and that’s what they get – the incredible Magical Mystery Tour!’
Indeed, you should have an idea what to expect when you sign up for the Magical Mystery Tour; having seen the movie a good couple of times, with zany skits of nonsense pushing the boundaries of surrealism to the very limit, I became rather excitable when I discovered that ... ...same name. Liverpool’s interpretation of the Magical Mystery Tour offered Beatlemaniacs of all ages the opportunity to ride around on a replica bus from the 1967 film whilst uncovering some of The Beatles deepest, darkest secrets in their home city.
Or alternatively, you’ll find out where John, Paul, George and Ringo grew up and perhaps where they went to school. Being overly fanatical about the whole thing (yeah, I bet you’re surprised!) and reserving ...

Once upon a time, in Liverpool...
Advantages: An excellent museum dedicated to the Fab Four, suitable for all age groups Disadvantages: Some of the headsets are a bit dodgy (it was just mine) and some displays not working
This time during the month of Beatlemania, instead of just writing about the bands albums, films and death theories, I wanted to write about some of the ways in which Liverpool still celebrate the lives of their favourite sons (beside the football players!). Although Ringo made a few disparaging comments towards his hometown a year or two ago, the phrase ‘everyone has to start somewhere’ springs to mind and – although I may be a little bias – I would ... ...I live!
Right at the heart of the city is Albert Dock, a place now surrounded by various shops, museums and even a hotel with the Echo Arena mere feet away. When I was very little, perhaps six, I remember Mummy and Daddy, as they were affectionately called back then, taking my Brother and I right near the river. Being small and ignorant, I don’t remember much about the day other than a dark corridor which lead to a place called ‘The Cavern’ and ...

I will never Speke of it again!
Advantages: Easy to find, next to the airport! Disadvantages: Very little to do, over exaggarated activites, poor signposting.
...vague positive childhood recollections of Speke Hall. Buoyed by the good weather we decided to take brave the twenty mile trip from scenic Ormskirk to Speke.
Getting to Speke Hall is straightforward wherever you may be coming from. Simply following the signs to Liverpool airport takes you there as Speke Hall is right next door. Unfortunately, this was to be one of the few positives of our trip. On arrival at 11 am we were greeted by an open gateway ... ...sprogs entertained. Speke Hall also promises, "woodland walks and magnificent views of the Mersey basin and North Wales hills from The Bund, a high bank." The map cum guide suggests putting aside one and half hours for this scenic, spectacular walk and being an active lot we were up for a ramble before lunch. Unfortunately, the woods are a sparse collection of trees and the magnificent views are only visible on a small stretch of path overlooking ...

I'm seeing stars!!
Advantages: Free museum, great shows, beautiful location Disadvantages: None
...though is the Planetarium. The Planetarium underwent redevelopment recently and was newly unveiled on May 25th 2007. It is called the Peter Harris Planetarium. This is now the only Planetarium in London. The outside of the building is absolutely stunning. It is covered in bronze and is one of the largest uses of bronze in the world. It looks like just one big chunk but it's actually made up of 250 sheets. It's actually a really interesting, intellectual ... ...the celestial equator The planetarium is aligned with the local meridian (north-south line)
There are various different shows on at the Planetarium during the day and these you do actually have to pay for but it is well worth it. An adult ticket costs £6 and children are £4. They do offer a family ticket which is think is cheaper if there are four of you. The inside of the Planetarium has 120 seats which are extremely comfortable. Then angle ...

Enjoy yourself with added guilt.
Advantages: Free. Lots to see and do Disadvantages: I couldn't see a cafe. Perhaps I missed it. There are plenty around anyway
We squeezed a trip in here the other day whilst we were waiting to go on the 'Dukw bus' or is it 'Duck Bus'. It turned out to be a really good time filler.
The museum has moved since the last time I went about 15 years ago into a new warehouse in the Albert dock. We went on the train so I can't really comment on the parking situation but it looked OK, with plenty of spaces in the large parking lot to the left of Albert dock.
The museum looks all ... ...front steps. The lobby is large and inviting.
It's on 4 floors with a lift and stairs and it looked like they were extending into the basement.
The display areas were excellent. It is vibrant with light and sound with an excellent use of multimedia. The interactivity was superb and the kids (5,8,8,and 10) could have spent 5 times as long in there as we did. we only had 45 mins before we went floating in a bus on the dock!
The exhibitions included ...
